The Hometown Heroes Breakfast this morning was a particularly special event for our family because my lifelong friend and veteran firefighter Clayton Anderson received an award for his off-duty actions to save my son, Gideon, who is now eight weeks old. When complications with Gideon’s birth at home with a midwife arose, I called 911. At the same time, I also called Clayton, who immediately raced to our home. He was able to revive our newborn son and comfort my wife as we went to the hospital with Gideon. We are forever grateful to him and all of our first responders who are there for us during our most trying times. While we gave them special honor and recognition this morning, they deserve our respect and gratitude each and every day.
