It shocked us a few days ago to see the Washington Post—a member in good standing of the liberal media establishment—blow the whistle on Planned Parenthood for lying. But the lie was that bad. And it was made repeatedly.
Leana Wen, president of Planned Parenthood, insisted at least three times between March and May of this year that “thousands of women died every year pre-Roe.” Not true. Not even close.
That claim is 50-year-old pro-abortion propaganda fabricated to sway public opinion. Back then, abortion pioneer Bernard Nathanson and others used what he later admitted were “totally false” claims about thousands of deaths from abortion.
Here are some facts: There were 260 maternal deaths nationwide from abortion in 1957, as Planned Parenthood’s own medical director reported in the late 1950s. And in 1972, the year before Roe v. Wade, the Centers for Disease Control reported 53 maternal deaths from abortion. Not thousands.

There’s a great line in the movie Unplanned, which tells the amazing true story of ex-Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson. After Abby quit the abortion chain, Planned Parenthood retaliated, suing her and making false allegations.
That didn’t faze her attorney who told Abby the two most powerful words to use in court are: “Prove it.”
That’s where we are now with Planned Parenthood. The $1.7 billion abortion business filed a retaliatory, 15-count civil suit against Sandra Merritt. They are demanding $16 million from Sandra who, as you know, exposed Planned Parenthood’s shocking commerce in human organs harvested from unborn children.
Now we’re at the “put up or shut up moment” for Planned Parenthood in this case. And the abortion giant has a problem. As we told a federal district judge in a brief, Planned Parenthood “cannot prove any of the essential elements of the numerous claims they have brought.”
And because they “cannot ‘put up’ the evidence to back up their fanciful claims,” we’re urging the judge to issue a summary judgment which will mark the end of the road for Planned Parenthood’s retaliatory lawsuit.
In addition, Liberty Counsel has presented evidence that Planned Parenthood has no standing, no damages, and no legal basis for the suit, which is only designed to squash Merritt’s First Amendment rights.
+ + Desperate attempt to silence Sandra...
The abortion giant is obviously abusing the law in a desperate attempt to silence Sandra and protect the hideous business of selling baby body parts.
There is no question that this lawsuit should be dismissed. The motions for summary judgment hearing is July 17 in San Francisco. And the full trial, if it takes place, will start in late September and go on for weeks.

The pace of litigation in both cases is accelerating with both cases moving closer to trial this year. We are fighting in hostile territory (San Francisco), but we must defend Sandra who did nothing wrong.

Because our legal team must travel to California—and stay there for extended periods—we face soaring airfare, hotel and car rental expenses. Add to all that the hefty cost to transcribe voluminous depositions and other related expenses. Together, all this is imposing a huge financial burden on Liberty Counsel’s budget.
