SENATOR RICK SCOTT 04/05/2019 FLORIDA'S OWN!

Image

Senator Rick Scott is committed to lowering the cost of healthcare for American families, which is why, this week, he filed the Transparent Drug Pricing Act, which promotes transparency in drug pricing and reduces the cost of prescription drugs.

Senator Scott spent the week fighting for critical disaster relief funding for Florida and Puerto Rico following Hurricanes Michael and Maria. As Congress continues to debate this critical funding, Senator Scott remains committed to passing the $13.6 billion disaster relief bill to get funding to those in need as quickly as possible. He also introduced the Disaster Opportunity Zones Act, which would allow governors to nominate areas affected by 2018 hurricanes and California wildfires as opportunity zones to stimulate local economies and encourage private investment for disaster recovery.

Also this week, Senator Scott announced his co-sponsorship of the Supporting and Treating Officers In Crisis Act of 2019 to provide grant funding for law enforcement family-support services and allow grant recipients to use funds to establish suicide-prevention programs and mental health services for law enforcement officers. Senator Scott also announced his sponsorship of the TRACED Act to end abusive robocalls.

Senator Rick Scott and Senator Josh Hawley introduced the Transparent Drug Pricing Act, which promotes transparency in drug pricing and reduces the cost of prescription drugs for American consumers. Watch the announcement HERE.
Senator Rick Scott said, “American consumers are facing a crisis of rising drug costs and we can’t wait any longer. I urge every Senator to put themselves in the shoes of a family or a senior living on a fixed income who’s seen their drug costs triple in just a few years. This is about the lives of real people that hang in the balance. Every American should know exactly what their prescriptions cost and it’s unfair that consumers in other countries get a better deal than patients in America. That must change. There is no justification for waiting, we need to address the soaring costs of prescription drugs right now. Drug prices are a serious problem – a problem Washington should have addressed long ago.” Read more HERE.
Senator Rick Scott and Senator Marco Rubio introduced the Disaster Opportunity Zones Act (DOZA), which would allow governors to nominate areas affected by 2018 hurricanes and California wildfires as opportunity zones to stimulate local economies and encourage private investment for disaster recovery.

Senator Rick Scott said, “The Disaster Opportunity Zones Act will make a real and lasting difference for our communities impacted by Hurricane Michael. I’m proud to sponsor this bill to bring new capital investment and more jobs to Florida’s Panhandle as we continue to recover and rebuild following Hurricane Michael. Over my eight years as Governor, I fought every day to make sure every Floridian had the opportunity to live their version of the American Dream. This bill will build on that work and continue to expand economic opportunity for Florida families.” Read more HERE.

These brave men and women risk their lives to keep our communities safe, and we must always do everything we can to give them the support and resources they need.” Read more HERE.
