SERMON - KEEP ALERT, BE ON GUARD

Keep Alert
Be
On Guard

We Christians are to be the Watchmen who are constantly on the alert for both God’s Word as well as His return. When I say, “God’s Word,” I mean to convey we must be ever faithful in listening for His instruction as well as telling any that listen of the imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as has been foretold.

Isaiah 52:  7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news,   who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion,    "Your God reigns!".

Not every Christian has the ears of people that want to learn more about God’s salvation and how lives are to be lived in order to gain the rights of salvation. But, as written in the New Testament, every Christian has the duty to bear witness of the Good News. At this time we must place emphasis on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

There will come a day, and I am convinced that that day is not as far off as many may think, where there is no time left to teach others of what is required to gain God’s salvation. There are evil forces that have their thoughts set on silencing any words of a religious nature. They seek to silence any and all words that teach of God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

We read and hear of Christians being silenced as they seek to speak on street corners, in schools or in places where there are public gatherings. They have silenced prayers in schools, at school sporting events and in graduation ceremonies. City and county governing bodies who once opened their sessions with a prayer are being cast off upon and in some cases, sued by well known associations.

We must remain firm in our total commitment to God and rely upon His Mighty Strength to see us safe. We cannot and I, for one, will not sit still for at any event I may attend or for any speech seeking to diminish His Name. We must be prepared to stand up for Him.

Isaiah 40: 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

To ‘run in hope of the Lord,’ is to sing His praises. To ‘walk’ is to pray with words that speak of His Glory.

We cannot sit by as anyone seeks to silence us in our praise of our God. This cannot happen!

You will notice that there are many, who are not of God’s children, who seek to promote the ‘so-called’ religion of Peace, namely Islam. If you ask, ‘Why?, ’ I will say this, those servants of the god of this world serve only one master and that master is Satan himself. To any that seek to promote Islam we must proclaim loudly, ‘There is but One God and there are no others.”

Those of us who serve as the, ‘Watchmen of God,’ have the duty to alert any Christians that are yet unaware of any impending danger. We must be prepared to suffer any indignities laid before us. As ‘Watchmen of God’ we can expect the attack of Satan’s minions. Prepare yourself in  advance…pray and listen for His voice.

Isaiah 62: 6 I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night.

God has said that He provides ‘watchmen’ who are to be ever vigilant. If you are one that considers himself as such then you are one who has taken on the responsibility of standing watch as alerting your fellow Christians of the evils you see.

Being ‘watchmen’ for the One True God is not without peril. You will be beset with all the evils and wiles that Satan will bring to bear upon you as well as your loved ones. In the end your labors will not go unnoticed as God has made His promise know to His servants.

Isaiah 52:  8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy        When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.

As we Christians wait and face the perils before us we cannot do so with fear in our hearts. Fear paralyzes activity and that cannot be. Our God has promised us His protections.

Psalm 91:  1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  2 I will say] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."  Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

We are servants of the Most High and as such we must place every ounce of faith that He has given us in Him and in the glorious return of Jesus Christ to this earth. Contrary to what some have been taught this return will be preceded by events of great horror such has never been seen on this earth. Regardless of those terrible happenings we who choose to be God’s Watchmen must prepare ourselves and any that are not to be Watchmen are asked to sincerely pray for those who accept this mantel and responsibility.

To Him be the Glory and Power as we worship Him and sing praises to Him.

(Closing Prayer)

Almighty God, You who are the Power of the Universe, we come to You with praise and we ask that You accept our heartfelt worship. You alone are Most High and You alone are worthy of all the love and worship we can give.

Father there are those of us that offer ourselves as accepting You assigned role as that of being Watchmen and standing alert to speak Your Word at such times You choose. Those of us that You accept ask that You speak to each of us personally and also that You protect us and be our refuge as we face the dangers set before us. As El Gibbor, we ask that You bestow upon us the strength to be ever vigilant and willing to suffer should it be required of us. We are Your servants O Lord and You are our lives.

Lord, please accept our love and the praises we give to You.

In Jesus’ name we pray who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever,

Amen, amen and amen.
