SERMON - SERVE THE LORD TIRELESSLY

Serve the LORD
TIRELESSLY

We all get weary at times as the weight of the world seems to exert its weight upon our bodies and our spirits. The weight exerted may come in the form of illness to our bodies or to the bodies of our loved ones. The weight may come from no one really showing understanding of our base needs. It is not food and water for our bodies that sustains us, it is the need to be fed with the Words of God and have our thirst quenched by the Living Waters of the Holy Spirit.

I tell you to fear not. Our Heavenly Father is with each one of us even in times when everything seems to be lost. When you are sitting in a hospital waiting room you see people of all ages passing through on their way to receive treatment that they hope will ease their burden of illness. I was exposed to this a very short time ago and my heart cried out in, first in sadness but later in joy as I realized, God is with each one of them. Just as He is with each one of them, He is with you as well.

I am brought to the Word of God as set forth in Isaiah.

Isaiah 40: 31 But those of us who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not grow faint.

I have used this Bible verse to give comfort to young athletes and now see it as comfort to any that face adversity in their lives, especially illness of their bodies or that of a loved one.

If you ask, ‘How so?,’ then hear my answer.

When a person, in particular a Christian person, is either running or walking, he or she is running or walking in the direction to God. In the times of weakness of body or illness of either our body or that of a loved one, in being tireless servants of the Lord, He will be with us and strengthen us in body as well as in spirit. Our running to Him or walking to Him will not be hampered as He will always be there for His servants. He will not allow anything to stand in our way and deter us from access to Him. “Weariness and tiredness,” should be seen as stumbling blocks placed in our paths to His Kingdom. He simply will not allow that!

I have delivered a sermon, quite recently wherein I edified on the power of prayer. I set forth James 5:14. I now back up…to make clear His Word respecting our need to maintain our spiritual strength.

James 5:13 Are there any among you that are suffering? They should keep praying about it. And those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord.

The power of prayer should be seen as our energizer. In praying He sees our reliance on Him and trust in Him as worthy of His attention. At such times He is not going to allow Satan to deter our travel to Him in any way whatever. This is why we must be thankful to Him and express our thankfulness to Him and praise Him for the strength He is giving us in the dire times of need.

In becoming a Christian you have decided to trust in Him for your every need. I am not speaking of the needs to win in athletic contests or in situations where you may be competing against another for something (raise, position, time off) as I am talking about the strength to stay firm in your walk or run to God’s Kingdom. In doing so you have taken on the ‘lighter burden’ as you have made the decision to allow Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior, to carry your burden for you.

Rest assured that by serving Him and being thankful for blessings received you will, indeed. Be granted the power to, “fly high on wings like eagles.”

Closing prayer)

Heavenly Father, our King and Creator, we sing praises to You and we give You thanks for all that You bestow upon us. You are our God, there is no other. Our thoughts are of the mercies and blessings You are always giving us and of the protections from evil You give us as a shield.

Father, we run to You and walk Your path with the firm conviction that You are always there for us. In our times of greatest need You are there and we ask that Your strength will never see us falter. Where we are weak, You are strong.

Lord, You have been looking to the needs of our military forces throughout the world as evidenced by the many steps that have been realized as successful. Please continue to shed Your grace upon them and make safe their paths. We thank You for Your mercy and protection.

Lord, You have been guiding our elected leaders and allowing them to take steps to lead us in a manner that is pleasing to You. God, we thank You for that. Lord, we ask that You continue to bless them and guide their paths as You guide ours.

Lord, You have been guiding our judiciary and protecting the many servants that seek to protect us from evils and false ways. God, our Redeemer, we thank You and see Your mighty powers as the source of our strength. We ask that You continue Your guiding and protection of each of them.

All these things we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, You Son, and the Holy Spirit, we are One in You. Blessed be Your Holy Names,

Amen, amen and amen...
