Obama’s IRS ‘misled’ Obamacare Customers

The Obama administration “misled” Americans into thinking signing up for Obamacare would be cheaper than it really was, according to an inspector general’s report Thursday that said the IRS dramatically understated the actual cost of enrolling. IRS officials sent the letters to try to prod Americans to comply with the 2010 health law’s “individual mandate” that penalizes them for not holding coverage. But as part of the letters, the IRS said most people could find plans for $75 a month or less once government subsidies were figured in. That was untrue — in fact, the average cost was more than twice that ... Read More

Clinton Pay For Play Scandal - Huma's Emails

Former Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin used her personal email account to transmit classified documents and coordinate favors for Clinton donors, according to emails obtained by Judicial Watch Wednesday. Judicial Watch obtained the documents as part of a lawsuit filed after the State Department failed to respond to a March 2015 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The newly-obtained documents include 91 Clinton email exchanges that were not turned over to the State Department, contradicting Clinton’s claim that, “as far as she knew,” she had turned over all of her government emails. The emails reveal multiple instances in which Abedin used her ... Read More

US Created 209,000 Jobs in July, Crushing Expectations

Job creation in July kept up its sizzling June pace, with nonfarm payrolls growing by 209,000 while the unemployment rate slid down to 4.3%. Economists had been expecting payroll growth of 180,000 and a slight decline in unemployment. Last month, the economy added 231,000 jobs. Employment rose in restaurants and bars, white collar jobs, and health care. Employment in mining and manufacturing, two major areas of focus for the Trump administration, was unchanged. The labor force participation rate, at 62.9 percent, was little changed. This rate has remained steady for the past year. June was revised up to 231,000 from 222,000, which means that the jobs market was even stronger than expected. ... Read More

According to The Arizona Republic, McCain, before leaving Washington to get cancer treatments in Arizona, reportedly spoke to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) about joining forces again to pass the “Gang of Eight” bill. After joining Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) to defeat the GOP’s “skinny repeal” of Obamacare, McCain, who has always wanted to be known as a straight-talking independent, was lionized by Democrats and the ... Read More

Senate Moves on from Obamacare with Bipartisan Drug Bills

The Senate unanimously approved bills Thursday that would let dying patients try medicines that haven’t won full regulatory approval and inform doctors if a patient is a recovering drug addict, so they can prescribe safe treatment. Both measures passed before the Senate voted overwhelmingly to extend the Food and Drug Administration’s ability to charge fees on companies that submit their products for pre-market review. Taken together, the bills offered a bipartisan reset on health legislation after a bruising debate over Obamacare that stalled out last week when Republicans couldn’t muster enough troops to pass their bill through the Senate. The FDA fee bill was considered must-pass ... Read More
