MUTH'S TRUTHS 01/17/2017

It appears the political Era of Trump is already in full swing even before the president-elect is sworn in as president, as these three items from this morning's “Morning Score” newsletter show…

- "Thiel considering bid for California governor," by POLITICO's Alex Isenstadt: "Peter Thiel, the Silicon Valley billionaire and outspoken Donald Trump supporter, is considering a 2018 bid for California governor, according to three Republicans familiar with his thinking. Thiel, who co-founded PayPal and was an early investor in Facebook, has been discussing a prospective bid with a small circle of advisers, including Rob Morrow, who has emerged as his political consigliere. Morrow has worked at Clarium Capital, the San Francisco-based investment management firm and hedge fund that Thiel started." Full story.

- "Talk radio's Laura Ingraham eyes Senate bid," by the Washington Examiner's Paul Bedard: "Knowledgeable sources said that several party insiders have approached the media giant to run and that she is considering it. In preparation for a bid, her business partner, Peter Anthony, has begun buying website domains for Ingraham to use should she decide to move forward. It includes: ingrahamsenate.net, ingrahamsenate.com, ingrahamforvirginia.com and ingraham2018.com. Ingraham wouldn't comment on any run." Full story.

- Pro-Trump Minnesota pillow mogul not ruling out gubernatorial campaign, via Alpha News MN's Andrea Mayer-Bruestle: "... The idea of running for office is appealing to him as well. He believes that Minnesota 'is right on the threshold of breaking out of what we've been suppressed by so long because of the democrat liberals in this state.'" Full story.

Welcome to the NEW GOP.  It’s gonna be YUGE.

Cheers.

NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS

Back in 2003, the Nevada Legislature passed what was, at the time, the Mother of All Tax Hikes.

Two years later there was a surplus.  Most everyone in Carson City wanted to spend this windfall.  After all, that’s what politicians do best – spend other people’s money.

But the late Republican Gov. Kenny Guinn and Republican then-Assemblyman Bob Beers teamed up and pushed through a plan to rebate the overcharge.

In 2015, Gov. Brian “America’s Worst Governor” Sandoval and a rag-tag team of shameful RINO (Republican In Name Only) legislators teamed up with every tax-and-spend Democrat in the Legislature to pass the largest tax hike in Nevada history – a $1.4 BILLION behemoth that included the creation of a new business income tax, complete with a “Nevada IRS” that every business in Nevada now has to report to even if it doesn’t owe the tax.

And according to a report in Tuesday’s Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada is once again looking at a budget surplus.  This time in the neighborhood of $5.5 million.

Unfortunately, Brian Sandoval is no Kenny Guinn and Assembly Minority Leader Paul Anderson is no Bob Beers.  Instead, the pair of RINOs intend to spend every last dime of the overcharge, jacking state spending up by 7 percent to almost $8 BILLION.

The end of the Sandoval regime can’t come soon enough.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“The State Department held stress management sessions following Donald Trump’s presidential election victory, providing employees tips for how to cope with change so they do not ‘become paralyzed by fear.’ The workshops, titled ‘The Emotional Transition: Managing the Stress of Change,’ were held by the State Department’s Bureau of Medical Services on Dec. 8 and 14, just one month after the department’s former boss, Hillary Clinton, was defeated.” – FreeBeacon.com, 1/16/17 (Suck it up, buttercup!)
