SERMON - A TIME TO WEEP AND A TIME TO FIGHT

A Time to WEEP
And
A Time to FIGHT

At the present day we are in numerous battles. We are faced with financial ruination, with a war on terror, political strife and, a fight to allow God to remain in our lives.

The financial ruination, possibly a current day, Depression, is akin to a situation faced by David as spoken of in God’s Word.

1 Samuel 30:3 When David and his men came to Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.

David’s army, consisting of 600 warriors, was devastated by this event.

I liken this to the ‘financial ruination,’ as their homes had all been destroyed.

The ‘war on terror’ can be seen as their wives, sons and daughters being kidnapped. The war to remove God from their lives is Satan in the hearts of those that had wreaked this havoc and ruination on the lives of God fearing men.

1 Samuel 30:4 So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep.

Were anyone to have been present they may have heard questions such as: “How could this happen? Why would God allow this?”

Their homes had been burned to the ground, their cattle and livestock taken, their crops razed and their spirits shaken to the core of their being. Just like you they faced hardships, financial ruination, a war set upon them by terrorists and an attack fostered by Satan.

There are many that would have quit. They would lick their wounds, cease to follow their leader and sought to rebuild their lives in what they felt was a safer place, They would have allowed the antagonists (terrorists) to prevail, their financial ruination to be acceptable, and most of all, allowed Satan to enter their lives.

What do you think David and his men did?

1 Samuel 30:17 David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled. 18 David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. 19 Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. 20 He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, "This is David's plunder

David and his army fought. They saved their families, their cattle and other livestock and retuned as victors.
How was that accomplished? How did they know it was time to fight? The answer is simple. David asked God and received an answer.

1 Samuel 30: 8 and David inquired of the Lord, "Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?" "Pursue them," he answered. "You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue."

People, it is time to ask God that same question. This is the time to ask Him, “Who am I to accept as my earthly leader to lead me, will I be able to defeat my adversary?

In asking that question you have already defeated Satan as you turned to God for your answer and not to the people that would lead you from Him.

The big question is, ‘Who am I to accept as my earthly leader? Who will lead me out of this financial ruin, this onslaught of terrorism? Who is the one to follow?

Well, I ask this question of my Lord as well.

In such a calamitous time in our lives we must ask God to provide a leader, such as David, that is both Godly and with enough boldness to lead us against the enemy. A person who will stand up to those that would financially ruin us, terrorize us and remove all vestiges of God from our lives. To date no such person, man or woman has risen to the task. Not one.

The time to fight is now and we are in need of a general!

WAIT! HOLD ON A MINUTE!

He is here! He was here and is waiting for us to ask Him to return to His rightful place as our Leader!

In your heart you know who I am referring to. You know who your true Leader is and He is not an earthly person but He once walked the earth just like you or I.

David acted in faith as he asked the Lord, “Shall I pursue…Will I overtake them?”

Well, with all of the faith you can muster and with a heart filled with love of God and a longing for righteousness you must call on Jesus Christ to lead you in this battle. There is one condition and that you must realize through faith. You may have to physically enter into the fray. Just like David and his army you might have to physically fight a battle.

David must have thought to himself, “The Lord said I would recover all.” That meant that he would defeat those who sought to strip him of his wealth, terrorize him and his followers, and remove God from his life.

God is now telling me, “Fight. Fight for your holdings, fight for your families, fight terrorism and most of all, fight Satan.”
I am now telling you, “The time is right to fight spiritually. There may come a day when you must physically fight and when, not if but when, that day comes know this. God has promised VICTORY.”

In closing allow me to reference God’s Word as written in Isaiah.

Isaiah 35: 4 say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you."

As your world seems to be spinning completely out of control know this. God is in the process of saving us. He will use the chaos of world events to accomplish His will.

How do I dare say this?

Because I know, with all of my heart and soul, He is faithful to His people through every calamity!

(Closing prayer)

Almighty God, King of All Creation. Please hear our prayer. We come before You with praise and hearts felled with wonder of Your mighty power. There is none that can stand before You with a power greater than You possess and are. As El Gibbor, You are our Divine Rock; our Most Powerful God.

Lord, it appears as if we are to enter battle to maintain our ways of life here on earth. We have the utmost of faith in Your protection and promises and ask that You be our strength and bolster our spirits in times of danger. We testify of Your gifts to each of us and rejoice in having You as our God. You are indeed worthy of our worship and devotion.

We have faith in the spiritual powers You have bestowed upon us and ask that You strengthen us physically so as to deliver us from defeat. Just as Your son David asked, we ask that You be with us as we seek to enjoy all that You have given us. This we pray.

Father, we also ask that You enter the hearts of our enemies and shed the light of truth upon their spirits. Open their eyes, O Lord, and allow them to see truth as You have taught. Those that refuse to see You as God and deny You, may their earthly deaths be merciful.

Lord, we ask that You continue to bless and protect our elected officials that are honestly doing Your bidding. We ask that You bless and protect the honest judges, police and people charged with protecting our safety. Bless and protect our military and deliver them from harm. Bless Your children throughout the world and see them safe to Your Paradise at the time of their earthly demise.

Lord, strengthen us. Strengthen us in body as well as in spirit. Allow us to enter any adverse situation with the confidence only You can provide and have no fear in the outcome with the knowledge that You are with us.
These things we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord and Savior, who is One with You and the Holy Spirit; One God, forever and ever,

Amen, amen and amen...
