Susan Collins (R-Maine) on the Supreme Court, FreedomWorks CEO Adam Brandon commented: “Susan Collins is simply out of touch with grassroots conservative activists. No hearings, no votes. It’s that simple. Conservatives and Republicans want senators to stand up to President Obama, not cave to every one of his demands. Key Vote NO on Senate FAA Crony Capitalism Amendments and Bill Passage - by Adam Brandon Recent reports indicate that language may be included in H.R. 636, America's Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2015, the vehicle for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill in the Senate to provide tax breaks for renewable energy that are slated to expire. FreedomWorks opposes inclusion of this language in the FAA reauthorization bill. FreedomWorks will score against any amendment vote that advances such language and will score against final passage of an FAA reauthorization bill that includes such tax breaks. As one of our over 5.7 million FreedomWorks activists nationwide, I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to vote NO on any amendments that advance tax breaks for renewable energy that are due to expire and on final passage of the FAA bill if it includes this language.  Read more here... 4. Bringing Labor/HHS Bill to House Floor Should Be a Priority for Ryan - by Neil Siefring via The Hill Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has made the theme #ConfidentAmerica a key part of his speakership. This, along with his assertion that "As leaders, we need to raise our gaze and raise our game and talk about ideas," signals a new era in the House. There is a way to tangibly demonstrate that our country is confident and talking about ideas: If the appropriations process takes place this year, the first bill on the House floor should be the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education bill. Referred to inside the Beltway as the Labor/HHS bill, this appropriations measure has not come to floor for debate since 2009. For nearly a decade, Democrats and Republicans have failed in one of their principal constitutional duties. Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 of the Constitution states, "No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law." That clause can also be found quoted at the top of the House Appropriations Committee website. Sadly, this constitutional directive has become empty verbiage. Read more here... 5. Florida Governor Signs Forfeiture Reform into Law  - by Jason Pye Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation that requires law enforcement to make an arrest before seizing property believed to be connected to a crime and increases the evidentiary standard the government needs to permanently keep seized property. The bill also offers procedural reforms, such as a $1,000 filing fee and $1,500 that the government needs to pay before beginning forfeiture proceedings against seized property. The bond would be payable to the property owner if the government fails to produce evidence that the property is connected to illicit activity. SB 1044 was the product of the work of state Sen. Jeff Brandes (R-St. Petersburg) and several other lawmakers and Florida's law enforcement community, all of whom worked together to forge a compromise language that restores due process and protects private property.
