NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS 01/28/2016

Donald Trump and the Seven Dwarfs

If Donald Trump’s tweets are accurate, advertising rates for tonight’s GOP presidential candidate debate on FOX News dropped like a stone after he announced his boycott.

Not hard to see why.  Trump has clearly been the marquee name driving interest in the previous six debates.  Without him participating…what’s the point?

Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, Jeb!, Chris Christie, John Kasich and Rand Paul will have the stage all to themselves tonight.  But like the proverbial tree falling in the woods with no one around to hear it, will they make a sound?

Don’t bet the farm on it.

I still say it’s gonna be tough for Trump to actually win Iowa next week.  It’s a caucus state with a strong social conservative strain among the GOP primary electorate – a big benefit for Cruz and Carson (my guy).

But if he does, he may very well run the table…with or without being at tonight’s debate.

And I’ll say it AGAIN...

The media should NOT be hosting the debates!  They should be COVERING the debates.  The GOP debates should be hosted by center-right non-profit organizations, such as Americans for Tax Reform, the American Conservative Union and…Citizen Outreach!

Cheers.
