OBAMA MUST ACT NOW!

At the White House Correspondents’ dinner on April 25, President Barack Obama acknowledged American journalist Jason Rezaian and his imprisonment in Iran.

At February’s National Prayer Breakfast, Obama also recognized the incarceration of Pastor Saeed Abedini by the Iranian government.

Yet the President continues to ignore the one American who has been unjustly detained in Iran the longest: U.S. Marine Amir Hekmati.

Sergeant Hekmati has been held captive for over three years and the United States Government has yet to act.

That why Ken, Larry and I are demanding legislators to act – will you join us?

We must never abandon our own.

On January 9, 2012 , U.S. Marine Sergeant Amir Hekmati was taken captive by the Iranian government under allegations that he was a spy for the CIA.

While no longer sentenced to death, our Marine continues to languish in Tehran’s Evin prison – one of the country’s most notorious detention centers, the same prison that holds Jason Rezaian.

A recent report says that Sergeant Hekmati was “taunted by Iranian prison guards” after Obama’s recent Correspondents’ dinner because “the president did not mention his name.”

The fact that Sergeant Hekmati remains behind bars overseas is an outrage.

Special Operations Speaks is calling on the U.S. Congress to demand the U.S. State Department to rally for the release of Sergeant Amir Hekmati and bring our Marine home!

Special Operations Speaks sounded the alarm over Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi – now it’s time to defend Sergeant Amir Hekmati!

Though Barack Obama may ignore our imprisoned Marine, we will not.

Thanks for standing with us.

For the Republic,

Richard F. (“Dick”) Brauer Jr., Col. USAF (Ret)
