MINOR CORRECTION
In my Christmas Eve newsletter outlining the process for
recalling Speaker-of-the-Weak John
Hambrick, I got something wrong…
It’s not shown in the Nevada Revised Statutes or the Nevada
Constitution; however, a Nevada Supreme Court ruling a couple years ago decided
that only persons who VOTED in the last election may sign a recall
petition.
If a recall qualifies and is ordered, THEN every
registered voter may vote. But only
those who voted in the Assembly District 2 race in November 2014 may sign the
petition requesting Assemblyman Hambrick’s recall.
A tougher hill to climb for “the people,” but still doable.
RECALL FEVER: CATCH IT!
I know some of you are already talking amongst yourselves
about possible recalls of Republican legislators who are preparing to sell out
conservatives in the upcoming session – either by deploying the “nuclear option”
to install a Speaker other than the one chosen by the Republican Assembly
Caucus, or by voting for the Governor’s coming billion dollar tax hike that he
did NOT campaign on and is expected to spring on Nevadans when he
presents his budget in two weeks.
Continue to spread the word, but keep your powder dry. Plans are underway. Details will be coming later this week. Stay tuned…
DEAR JOHN: LETTERS TO HAMBRICK

John,You have doubtless been receiving emails from angry voters, and clearly are under pressure from Sandoval, Anderson, Hickey and company. Whatever the establishment has offered you personally, it can’t be enough to offset the damage they are doing to the rest of us, and you need to realize that. Your prevarication and indecision have profound implications for the party, the state, and even the nation.The voters spoke loudly in the last election. They want government overreach stopped. You are in a position to do so. Whether you can salvage your personal reputation and political career is doubtful, though possible. What you can and should do is stand tall, be a statesman, and take the first steps to save our state and our nation. Keep Fiore, and appoint conservatives to committee chairs. If you can’t, then step aside as Speaker in favor of her or Ira Hansen, who never should have resigned in the first place.I have known you for a number of years now, and “disappointment” doesn’t begin to describe what I and many others feel. Don’t think about yourself: fire your political consultants and act instead for our state and nation.
FIORE ON FIRE: DEFENDS SELF, NAMES NAMES
In an interview with KDWN 720 AM conservative talk-show host
Alan Stock on December 16, 2014 – in which she discussed her situation
relating to IRS tax liens filed against her businesses – Stock asked
conservative Republican Majority Leader Michele Fiore to name the three
individuals Fiore said were working to undermine conservatives in the
Republican Assembly Caucus.
She did…naming political consultants Nathan Emens and
Cory Christensen and donor/mining tax-hike advocate Monte Miller. Click here to

By the way, when Fiore stated that it was her opinion that
certain actions by one of the consultants was a serious conflict of interest,
possibly criminal, in taking money from the Republican Assembly Caucus while
simultaneously working for a Democrat candidate who was running against a
Republican candidate supported by the Republican Assembly Caucus.
Such a conflict of interest is, indeed, potentially criminal
if done by, say, a lawyer or real estate agent.
Indeed, a search of Nevada Revised Statutes for the phrase “conflicts of
interest” will return you some 263 hits.
So the law in Nevada does consider such actions to be quite serious.
That said, taking money from two opposing clients probably
isn’t considered criminal when perpetrated by political consultants, but it
certainly is unethical. And subsequent
to Fiore’s interview, we confirmed that the political consultant caught with his
drawers down ‘round his ankles playing both sides against the middle was…

WHO DONE IT?
Speaking of Mr. Emens…
Maybe it’s just me, but Speaker-of-the-Weak John Hambrick revealed last week that
one of two Republican political consultants – Cory Christensen or Nathan
Emens – blackmailed him into removing conservative Assemblywoman Michele Fiore as Chairman of the
Assembly Taxation Committee, and I, for one, would like to know who it was.
Whichever one it was, they threatened to sue every
Republican member of the Republican Assembly Caucus over remarks Fiore made in
an interview two weeks ago. The
blackmailer, according to Hambrick, said he would only sue Fiore and not every
member of the caucus if Hambrick would remove Fiore from her leadership
positions in the caucus.
Don’t the members of the Republican Assembly Caucus deserve
to know which political consultant threatened them? Doesn’t the public deserve to know which
political consultant blackmailed the Speaker-designee?
Who was it, Mr. Hambrick?
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF LEGAL MONEY LAUNDERING?
On October 27, 2014, the NVHBA PAC wrote a series of contribution
checks to 16 legislative candidates of both parties in amounts of $500,
$1,000 and $2,000.
Neither Becky Harris
nor Patricia Farley, Republicans
running for state Senate seats against incumbent Democrat legislators, received
a check from NVHBA PAC.
However, on that same day NVHBA PAC also wrote one check in
the amount of $2,000 to one PAC, the One Nevada PAC, which happens to be the
personal PAC of moderate Republican State Sen. Greg Brower.
The very next day – October 28, 2014 - One Nevada PAC wrote two
checks of $1,000 each - one to Becky Harris and the other to Patricia
Farley – and to no one else.
Coincidence?
I don’t think so.
I could be wrong, but something about those
donations and the time frame in which they were made just doesn’t smell right.
DRIVE-BY MUTHINGS
When New York Mayor Bill de Blasio began speaking during the
funeral of slain NYPD police officer Rafael
Ramos, hundreds of Ramos’ fellow police officers “turned their backs on the
screens” as a silent protest against remarks de Blasio made weeks ago that some
believe contributed to the rising anger towards law enforcement, resulting in Ramos' murder.
Some have said it was disrespectful to Officer Ramos. No it wasn’t.
It was disrespectful to de Blasio. And it was called for. And it was appropriate. More appropriate would be de Blasio’s
resignation.

Obama is also guilty of fueling the racial tensions against police officers
with his remarks following the Ferguson, MO, riots. No wonder he sent Vice President Joe Biden to yesterday’s memorial
service in New York instead of attending himself.

Speaking of which, two Las Vegas police officers were
ambushed and slain a few months ago. Why
didn’t the President of Vice President come here for their services? Are the lives of our law enforcement officers
not worth as much as those of a New York law enforcement officer?
