DAN IS NOT DEAD!
Rumors of the passing of my best friend, Dan Burdish, are - like the rumors of Mark Twain’s death – an exaggeration.
Dan has been experiencing chest pains for the past three
weeks while waiting, unbelievably, for an appointment with a VA (Veterans
Administration) cardiologist. During
this time the chest pains continued to come and go on a regular basis and he
was popping nitro pills like candy. Finally,
an attack was severe enough yesterday that Dan was rushed by ambulance (I hope
it was AMR!) to the emergency room where a stent was implanted.
I spoke with him this morning and he’s MUCH better…and may
even be released as early as today.
Which would be cool, because that means he’ll be out of the hospital in
time to make it to his VA appointment with the VA cardiologist next week!
This, ladies and gentlemen, is your future under ObamaCare.
THE BILBRAY FILES
So the Titanic-like congressional campaign of Democrat Erin Bilbray-without-the-Kohn - which
only last weekend was begging for $6 donations to buy its volunteers pens for
door-to-door canvassing - yesterday announced that its new TV ad was up.
“The minute we talk to voters on their doorstep, over the
phone, or reach them on television–they pledge to vote for me,” Bilbray-without-the-Kohn
wrote with a straight face in an email pitch for…you guessed it…mo’ money. “This ad is one of our last chances to make a
big impact on this election and send Joe
Heck packing.”
Oh, yeah. Brigadier
General Heck is packing alright. Packing
for another term in Congress!
In fact, highly-respected political prognosticator Larry Sabato moved Nevada’s 3rd
Congressional District race from “Likely Republican” to “Safe Republican” just
this week.
And the fundraising numbers released yesterday sure didn’t
help.
The Las Vegas
Review-Journal reports that between July and October, Heck raised almost
$442,000 and has $1.28 million on hand.
For her part during the same period, Bilbray-without-the-Kohn - with
help from both Vice President Joe Biden
and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi!
- raised less than $173,000 and has only $110,100 left on-hand.
But that was before the bill for the new Bic pens arrived, so
the amount today is considerably less!
That said, let’s kill a nasty rumor going around right now...
It is absolutely, positively NOT TRUE that a large sign
reading “Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter” has been erected over the entrance of
Bilbray-without-the-Kohn’s headquarters.
From what I understand staffers and volunteers who show up no
longer need a printed reminder.
