RedState Briefing 10/24/2014

This is Horrifying

As you know by now, ISIS was able to capture a military shipment dropped into the Syrian/Iraq area that was meant for Kurds. The shipment of weapons and supplies for the Kurds was intended for use combatting ISIS.

What is so horrifying about all this is why the Department of Defense says ISIS capturing the pallet of supplies is “not significant.”

A Denuded Victory

If the polls are to be believed, the Republicans are more likely than not going to regain control of the Senate next year. Probably, they will increase their margin of control in the House. These are good things, I guess, in the sense that all elected Democrats are pro-abortion and removing one from power is always a net positive. So a week from Tuesday I will go out and cast my vote for Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and will do so without much complaint.

But that’s an idiomatic reason that appeals only to me and the relatively small slice of America who thinks like I do on that issue. With respect to the vast majority of the rest of America, I’m at a loss as to what benefit they are supposed to receive from a Republican victory on election day.

Obama Knows What a Michelle Nunn Victory Would Mean

The Georgia Senate race is one of the closest races this election cycle. Democrat Michelle Nunn has found herself in the complex situation faced by so many other red state Democrats this cycle of being a member of Obama’s political party while trying to get the votes of a conservative electorate greatly dissatisfied by the President’s performance in office. Thus far, the polls indicate that she has done that rather well, but Georgia voters ought to be aware of the consequences of a Nunn victory. Unlike other red state Democrats, she’s been pretty open about her association with Obama. The Washington Post‘s Dana Milbank even ran a column about her titled, “Meet the one Democrat who is not running from Obama“.

The White House Gaslights America on Immigration

The evidence by this point has become pretty overwhelming that the White House plans some sort of mass amnesty via executive fiat immediately after the elections have concluded. Disgruntled Democrat Hispanics have openly declared that Obama has promised them as much, and earlier this week, Breitbart News revealed that the Administration was placing a supply order that would enable them to issue 34 million green cards, which would represent either a drastic and unprecedented increase in work visa issuage or (more likely) a one-time massive order for them pursuant to an Obama executive order.

In the face of this mounting and very public evidence, the press yesterday tried to get Obama to admit to the obvious – which is that he is planning something having to do with immigration in very short order. Rather than admit that some manner of plans in the works but denying that the election has anything to do with the timing, the White House instead decided to take the approach of gaslighting all of America with respect to their immigration plans

California requires all health plans to cover abortion

We knew this was eventually going to happen. And if it was going to happen it would more likely than not happen in California (known as the Cereal State because it is populated by fruits, flakes, and nuts). And now it has. California’s Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) Director Michelle Rouillard has ordered all insurance plans in the state to cover surgical abortion for any and all reasons.

Canada Comes Face to Face with ISIS and Radical Islamic Jihadist Terror

It was only a matter of time, but now Canada, a strong ally of the United States and freedom, has been struck with the brutal reality of radical Islamic jihadist terror.

This week not one but two separate terrorist attacks on Canada’s military personnel have ravished the country.

First on Monday, a radical Islamist mowed down two uniformed Canadian soldiers with his car, killing one and injuring the other.

Out of Ignorance or Out of Spite?

On more than one occasion in the last couple of weeks (the most vital couple of weeks as we near election day), President Barack Obama has said things that are, simply put, strategically dumb.

It’s more than likely that Republicans, barring a tremendous disaster, will take a majority in the Senate this year. The Democrats, even House ones, are struggling in key races, and groups are pulling money out of states now. Some races they had faith in are now effectively over. But, in other races, Democrats are pulling ahead and could take a victory.
