FREEDOMWORKS 09/18/2014

1. FreedomWorks Calls on Harry Reid to Bring Up Audit the Fed Bill
FreedomWorks calls on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to bring up the bill to audit the Federal Reserve. The House of Representatives passed The Federal Reserve Transparency Act (H.R. 24) with a vote of 333-92. The same bill to Audit the Fed passed in 2012 but was never brought up in the Senate. Now, FreedomWorks is calling on the Senate to bring the bill up for a vote, especially considering Senator Reid’s strong support for an audit of the Federal Reserve in the past.
“After years of the Liberty movement pushing for an audit, public sentiment has finally caught up with calls for transparency from America’s central bank. Now that the House has voted yet again to audit the Fed, it’s time for the Senate to take action,” said FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe. Read more

2. What Title II Regulation of Internet Actually Means - by Logan Albright
There is a great deal of discussion today about empowering the FCC to regulate internet services providers as if they were public utilities. Supporters of Net Neutrality tend to think this is a good idea, because they fear that ISPs will give discriminatory access to bandwidth, creating a so-called “internet fast lane” for companies with enough capital to pay.
The solution, many argue, is to classify the internet as a “common carrier” under Title II of the Federal Communication Act of 1934. The following is an extract from the FCC’s proposed rule. Read more here...
3. Coal Miners Union Abandons Workers in Key Senate Races - by Tom Borelli
Signaling total disregard for its workers, the United Mine Workers of America Union (UMWA) endorsed two Democrats over Republican rivals in upcoming Senate races in coal dependent states.
It’s not a total surprise. Following Obama’s declaration of war against coal in 2008, the UMWA endorsed Obama during his first campaign. After observing Obama’s attack against its members, the UMWA decided to remain neutral and failed to endorse either Obama or Mitt Romney. Read more here...

6. Is It Murphy's Law to Support Joe Strauss? - by Kelly Horsley
"If you aren't willing to fight for what you believe, do not cry about what you will lose."
I have no idea who this quote is from, but I love it. I think it's fitting of the upcoming Speaker's race for the Texas House. What do I mean? I mean that if you aren't willing to fight for a new, conservative Speaker of the House, then don't cry about what you will lose. What will we lose? The conservative stronghold that we have maintained here in Texas, despite the current speaker's liberal influence.
Let's introduce the players, shall we? We have incumbent Joe Strauss, with known ties to Democrats and a history of stalling conservative legislation. We now thankfully also have Scott Turner, a staunch conservative who has vowed to his family and his supporters to see this race through to the bitter end. Not only that, he has promised to make the vote for speaker an 'on the record' vote for all of the state representatives so that their constituents can see. No more closed door, back room deals on Speaker of the House. Read more here...

7. Young Black Conservative Speaks Out - Markeece Young
Why am I a young Black Conservative Republican? All my life I have always been different. I wasn’t easy to persuade and didn’t think the same as others. People say I am an old soul. I grew up in a violent drug ridden neighborhood where it was easy to get caught up in a drug or gang culture. My mom moved us to a better safer community.
I have always been interested in history and political matters, but growing up I idolized Democrats like North Carolina native John Edwards and former President Bill Clinton. I was a strong Democrat supporter as a kid, but as I grew up I started to question the Democrat Party and why Blacks were so loyal to them. I found out that the Democrat Party was pro-slavery, pro-segregation and pro-abortion. That the Democrat Party sterilized Blacks so they wouldn’t have more children. As a child I asked why would anyone support the Democrat Party? I asked my elders they had no answers! Read more here...
8. How Low Are Obama's Approval Ratings? - by Tom Borelli
Given Obama’s horrible performance in every category, in truth, his low public approval should be lower.
Here is a report on the latest Fox News poll:
There’s an avalanche of bad news for the Obama administration in the latest Fox News poll on foreign policy. American voters feel: Read more here...
