2. Common Core Set to be a Defining Issue for 2016
In this age of political polarization, it’s increasingly rare to find an issue that can bridge party lines and unite people of all ideological stripes.
When such an issue does come along, it sets the stage for the kind of meaningful political change that would otherwise, in different times, be impossible. Common Core education standards have emerged from the shadows of obscurity and have become such an issue.
Common Core standards originated in the same way that all government regulations come about: out of fear. For decades we have been told that our children are lagging behind those in other countries, that they cannot compete globally, and that their very futures are in danger unless government steps in and fixes the broken school system. Read more here...
3. Fireworks at NAACP Meeting - Watch Deneen Borelli Get Verbally Attacked
Nobody said being on the front lines of liberty is going to be easy and this is especially true at the 105th NAACP annual meeting that is being held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
Our goal is to simply expose the attendees to the opportunities offered by seeking free-market solutions to problems plaguing the black community.
However, our presence at the meeting was not welcomed by all. See more here...

5. Happening on the Hill: July 21, 2014
House & Senate/Schedule: The House and Senate are both in session this week and next week. They will leave town for their five-week August recess on August 1st.
Legislative Highlight of the Week: The Senate is likely to take up the House-passed bill to bail out the structurally insolvent Highway Trust Fund, H.R. 5021. The plan would raise about $10 billion to fund the Trust Fund through May 2015, relying mostly upon budget gimmicks to pretend to pay for the new spending. While Majority Leader Reid and his Democratic cohorts are discussing votes on a few amendments of their own, they are likely to once again shut down most or all Republican amendments to this bill. Senator Mike Lee will offer an amendment that would gradually return highway spending directly to the states. Read more here...
