The size and scope of the Veterans' Affairs scandal has gotten out of hand. A report this week indicates that more than 1,000 American veterans may have died due to VA misconduct over the past decade!

This is totally unacceptable and needs to end NOW! Congress must take immediate legislative action to address and solve the life-threatening problems at the VA. Read my urgent update below and find out what you can do to support our veterans Mat.

  Conservatives,

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) said on the Senate floor earlier this month:

"This is an emergency. If it's not an emergency that we have neglected the brave men and women who have served this country and protected our freedom, then I don't know what is."

Sen. McCain was speaking in reference to the gross negligence, incompetence, and mismanagement in the Department of Veterans' Affairs. According to a report this week from the office of Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), more than 1,000 veterans may have died due to possible VA misconduct over the past decade.

You read that right. "More than 1,000 veterans"!

Our former servicemen and servicewomen should never be subjected to substandard health care or be put on waiting lists and receive no treatment at all. The public outcry has resulted in the House and Senate passing separate bills to help veterans.

But FOX News reports the sense of urgency that once surrounded the VA scandal has given way to gridlock:

"Congress is set to leave (for the July 4 recess) without finalizing its response to the burgeoning Veterans Affairs health care scandal that cost a Cabinet secretary his job and is tied to numerous reported deaths. ... At issue is a potentially eye-popping price tag, and whether to pay for the legislation with spending cuts elsewhere."

The Congressional Budget Office says the Senate bill would cost $35 billion over three years, while the House version would run $44 billion over five years. So while Congress haggles over the cost, impact, and implementation of those bills, veterans are still waiting.

+ + Demand Congress ensure that America's veterans get the care and treatment they need and deserve!

It's time We, the People took action to support those men and women who served our nation with honor and distinction. With VA hospitals in such horrible shape, Congress needs to help veterans still awaiting treatment gain access to private health care.

While FOX News reports that the idea is "central" to both the bills in Congress, the Senate proposal says a veteran can seek outside care ONLY if he or she lives more than 40 miles away from a VA hospital. Surely, lawmakers can do better than that.

But they won't unless you and I make them!

Liberty Counsel Action is launching a national "Support Our Veterans" petition. Demand Congress work together to enact real legislative solutions to get our former servicemen and servicewomen the excellent and timely health care they need and deserve. Go here now to sign:

Recent audits by the VA have confirmed the following:

  • 35 veterans in the Phoenix area died while on a secret waiting list.
  • 57,000+ retired military have waited at least three months for an initial appointment.
  • 64,000 veterans who tried to schedule an appointment never got one.
Those numbers are horrifying and unacceptable. They're exactly why America's veterans need your help!

Tell Congress to take immediate legislative action to end the VA scandal. Go here now to add your name to the national "Support Our Veterans" petition:
