Judge Grants Request From Jahi McMath’s Family to Extend Life Support
The judge who is adjudicating the case of Jahi McMath has granted an extension for life support after a legal request from her family’s attorney.
A county judge extended the order for Oakland-based Children’s Hospital to keep Jahi McMath on life support until 5 p.m. on January 7. Her mother and family say she is alive following a tonsillectomy gone awry that has left her in an incapacitated state since early December. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/12/30/judge-grants-request-from-jahi-mcmaths-family-to-extend-life-support/
Mother of “Brain Dead” Teen Jahi McMath: My Daughter is Alive

McMath’s family had found a new care facility that will continue her medical care and treatment. But the hospital she is at now won’t cooperate to move her.

Pro-Abortion MSNBC Host Mocks Mitt Romney’s Family for Adopting Black Baby
A pro-abortion MSNBC host is getting heavy criticism today for mocking the family of Mitt Romney for adopting a baby who is black.
MSNBC host Melissa Harris Perry, who wore tampon earrings during a July broadcast, mocked the Romney family. As Caleb Howe of Right Scoop reports:

Why is a Children’s Hospital So Bent on Cutting Off Jahi McMath’s Life Support?
Children’s Hospital Oakland has a very good reputation where I live in the Bay Area. But its public communication around the tragedy of Jahi McMath’s ”brain death” has been astoundingly insensitive, bordering on arrogant.
The hospital’s statements quoted in today’s San Francisco Chronicle continues the maladroit insensitivity. The hospital states it will remove the ventilator the moment that can be done legally. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/12/30/why-is-a-childrens-hospital-so-bent-on-cutting-off-jahi-mcmaths-life-support/

My Mom Paid a Doctor to Abort Me, My Fiance’ Thanks God She Changed Her Mind
On this past December 18 I was busy gathering Christmas presents for our client’s at the Pregnancy Resource Center I work for. We connected with the post office, a boy scout troop, a high school and individual donors to make sure our client’s kids would wake up to presents under the tree.
I was in my office scratching the sticker of a Beach Barbie when my coworker Donna came in to give me a message. She told me that since I’d been working so hard, I deserved a lunch away from the office. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/12/30/my-mom-paid-a-doctor-to-abort-me-my-fiance-thanks-god-she-changed-her-mind/
Three-Year-Old Collects 900 Teddy Bears for Fellow Hospitalized Children
All life is precious and worthy of support and recognition — and a story out of Houston, Texas demonstrates that even a three-year-old little boy can instinctively know that.
Bennett Nester, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor own in 2011, received a teddy bear in the early stages of his treatment. His mother says that he wouldn’t let it out of his sight; somehow, the small token from a stranger helped to ease the trauma and pain that he was going through. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/12/30/three-year-old-collects-900-teddy-bears-for-fellow-hospitalized-children/

The Jahi McMath Battle: Miracles Do Happen With PVS Patients
A commenter to my last post–which distinguished between futile care impositions and stopping life support because a patient had been declared dead by neurological criteria–made the ludicrous declaration that there is no real difference between forcing a persistently unconscious patient off of life support and one who is “brain dead.” http://www.lifenews.com/2013/12/30/the-jahi-mcmath-battle-miracles-do-happen-with-pvs-and-brain-dead-patients/
