GOP USA MIDDAY REPORT 10/02/2013

Rand Paul: Shutdown about more than temporary inconvenience
image "I think I was elected to stand up and say, 'You know what, the emperor has no clothes,'" Paul said. "And we have to point that out. So really when people get caught up in the shutdown, I try to tell them, 'Well look, this isn't just about a shutdown. This isn't just about temporary inconveniences of the government shutdown. This is about whether or not a society or a civilization can borrow a trillion dollars every year without ramifications.'"

Illegal alien protesters seek entry into U.S.

A president as clueless and arrogant as ever
image Barack Obama is no Bill Clinton in the pantheon of romancers and boudoir bandits, but he is the president, after all, and his vain search for love in all the wrong places is enough to break a heart of stone. He just can't believe that Hasan Rouhani, the new president of Iran, is just not that into him. (Isn't everybody?)

The end of the world as we know it
image The media have proclaimed the end of civilization for the third time this year. Sure, the mail will still run on time. Sure, the police will still fight crime. Sure, you'll still receive your Social Security check and your Medicare and your food stamps. But by golly, if we don't get this horrific government shutdown solved, the Sharknado is a-comin'.

11th-hour move lets feds fund abortions
image The Office of Personnel Management ruled Monday that members of Congress and their staffs will be able to buy health care plans that pay for abortions, even though the premiums are funded largely by taxpayer money - a move that conservatives say breaks federal law on abortion funding.

Ammunition shortages linger in MD as new gun law arrives
image Gun stores and sporting goods retailers in Frederick County are having difficulty holding on to ammunition inventories in light of Maryland's new gun law.

CA governor sees his agenda as template for America
image For the first two years of his late-in-life second act as governor, Jerry Brown focused almost exclusively on California's woeful budget situation.

Obama's disarmed diplomacy
image In the past month, Americans have been led to believe that President Obama has achieved diplomatic breakthroughs with Syria and Iran, thereby avoiding looming conflicts with those two rogue states.

The Old Media and the New Sheriffs
image Once again, we've reached a government shutdown over irresponsible government spending. Once more, the media are proclaiming the world is coming to an end and blaming conservative Republicans for everything. They are working hand in glove with the Never Enough Government lobby that dominates Washington, without a shred of shame.
