SWINE FLU KILLS NINE IN MEXICO, BORDER REMAINS WIDE OPEN
The first outbreak of the virus occurred in April 2009 in Mexico and the U.S. and became a global pandemic that claimed the lives of 17,000, with more than 1,250 of those deaths occurring in Mexico. The U.S.-Mexico border remains wide open for the virus to cross as the Obama administration has yet to enact any increased border security.
Then again, the U.S. failed to close the border during the 2009 pandemic when countries around the world were suspending all travel to and from Mexico.
