ATF Resorts to Dubious Tactics to Secure Arrests

An exposé by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (still known as ATF) engaged in rogue tactics to go after guns on the street, including exploiting the mentally ill, purchasing weapons at extremely high costs, and allowing minors to smoke marijuana and drink.

The exposé follows one that the Journal Sentinel ran earlier this year that focused on the Milwaukee arm of the ATF. According to that article, the undercover ATF agents opened a storefront sting operation that was said to have focused on breaking up criminal operations in Milwaukee by purchasing illegal guns and drugs from felons.

Support for national convention in Vegas grows…

Dear Fellow Republican,

As you probably know, at a meeting of the Republican National Committee in Beverly Hills last spring, I launched an effort to bring the GOP national convention to Las Vegas in 2016.  That proposal has now taken off like wildfire and a formal proposal will be submitted early next year. 

This would be great for Nevada Republicans, great for Las Vegas and great for our state.

European Parliament Again Rejects Bill Declaring Abortion a Human Right
For the second time in two months, the European Parliament rejected a report that recommended that EU nations declare abortion to be a human right and to make abortion available within all public health systems of member countries. Adoption of the report would have placed more pressure on pro-life nations like Ireland, Poland and Malta to legalize abortion on demand.

This month, the only thing falling faster than the temperature is the number of the new law's supporters. Making matters worse, the policy's biggest defectors seem to be the ones most crucial to it: the medical community. Thousands of doctors are walking away from the exchange in a large-scale mutiny over the government's reimbursement rates. In California, where 70% of the 104,000 physicians are refusing to participate in ObamaCare, practices stand to lose millions of dollars under the state's bargain basement insurance rates. The Washington Examiner's Richard Pollack broke it down this way. "In other states, doctors receive between $500 to $700 to perform a tonsillectomy. In California [under the state exchange], they get $160."
