“Health insurance companies across the country are seeking and winning double-digit increases in premiums for customers, even though one of the biggest objectives of the Obama administration’s health care law was to stem the rapid rise in insurance costs for consumers.”

This phenomenon comes as no surprise to anyone who has been following Liberty Counsel’s legal and moral opposition to ObamaCare. Please see my urgent message below – Mat.

The New York Times (NYT) report is stirring both supporters and detractors of the President’s takeover of America’s healthcare system. From our point of view, what is extraordinary is the Times’ conclusion that calls for even more government control!

Simply stated, The NYT suggests that the double-digit increase in healthcare premiums is because federal regulators do not have enough power to control rates by insurers – although the written code of ObamaCare has over 2,700 pages of regulations, including ponderous guidelines for rates!

What is their objective? They want us to all think that pedophilia is just another sexual orientation. You know who’s gonna fall right in line is college kids, just like they have on gay marriage, just like they do on all other revolutionary social issues. Their own definition of the cutting edge, civil rights, freedom, understanding, tolerance. So I’m just warning you here. You think it can’t happen. “Impossible! Don’t be nutso and wacko on us, Rush.”

I’m just asking you to remember all of the things that occur normally in our culture now that when you first heard about them you thought, “No way! That’ll never happen; that’ll never be mainstream,” and now they are. Here is another one to add to the list. (interruption) You want more excerpts from this piece? “In 1976 the National Council for Civil Liberties, the respectable (and responsible) pressure group now known as Liberty, made a submission to parliament’s criminal law revision committee.

“It caused barely a ripple. ‘Childhood sexual experiences, willingly engaged in with an adult,’ it read, ‘result in no identifiable damage … The real need is a change in the attitude which assumes that all cases of pedophilia result in lasting damage.’” So you see it’s you who have to reorient your thinking. It’s you who have to get rid of your bigotry. It’s you that have to open up and become more tolerant. It is you judgmental people who think this is child abuse when it isn’t.

1. The Real Gun Violence Problem

Piers Morgan has been in the news a lot lately with his interviews on gun control. He’s made it his cause of late. He interviewed my friend Larry Pratt a couple of weeks ago and really attacked Larry. The other night he interviewed that conspiracy crank Alex Jones and many conservatives and gun owners have lamented a perception that Alex Jones will become the face of gun owners.

The conversations have actually been fascinating. Piers Morgan isn’t the only one to engage in these, but he’s been one of the most prominent.

Unfortunately, the incident that set off all these discussions — the Newtown, CT tragedy — is causing policy makers and news figures to fixate on all the wrong things, or at least the things with the least amount of meaning.

The fact is the tragedy in Connecticut was terrible. But it is also not a common act. It is called a “random act of violence” because it is random.
