Back in the 1990s, an elected official offered a fiery speech on why we need to peel back the layers of Federal Reserve secrecy.

This scene was repeated again in 2009 and 2010.

You may think this is another email about my dad’s quest to Audit the Federal Reserve and reveal how much money it prints and whose pockets it gets stuffed in.

But it’s not.

The elected official in question is none other than Harry Reid.

Money Down a Rathole: College, Healthcare, Housing

Households are dumping trillions in hard-earned income down ratholes with marginal returns: costly higher education, healthcare and housing. What happens when households dump huge percentages of their stagnant incomes down marginal-return ratholes? They get less wealthy, which is exactly what we’re seeing. The average American household has been persuaded that pouring money into costly higher education, healthcare and housing are all “investments” that offer high yields. Sadly, the opposite is true: the returns on these stupendously costly investments is marginal or negative. Let’s start with higher education, a topic I have discussed at length numerous times. In essence, a college degree has lost its scarcity value, and in an era of labor arbitrage (a.k.a. offshoring and international competition), automation and relentless pressure to lower costs, even advanced degrees in law, science and business management that once were perceived as guarantees of secure high-paying employment no longer have scarcity value: the number of people with advanced degrees far exceeds the number of open positions.

This current Congress, the 112^th, has shown that they are the tamest bunch of legislators to grace the halls of the Capital since the inception of our Republic. The “go along to get along” mentality has caused an erosion of liberty, the likes of which our nation has never seen. From the moment that Obama burst on the scene, he has threatened Congress in one way or another, challenged their authority at every turn, and usurped a good measure of their Constitutional powers along the way with barely any objection from them.

Obama has managed to use intimidation upon many of his political opponents with great effect as evidenced by his past political campaigns that have sought to win not by persuasive arguments for the benefit of the people but simply disgracing his adversaries and leaving him the only man standing. This abusive method of electioneering is the Chicago “trademark” of politics that's been perfected by Illinois politicians for generations and is know as the “Chicago Way.”

Why would Obama change his style now that he is on the national stage?
