U.S. Proposes Unmanned Border Entry With Mexico

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, Texas –  The bloody drug war in Mexico shows no sign of relenting. Neither do calls for tighter border security amid rising fears of spillover violence.

This hardly seems a time the U.S. would be willing to allow people to cross the border legally from Mexico without a customs officer in sight. But in this rugged, remote West Texas terrain where wading across the shallow Rio Grande undetected is all too easy, federal authorities are touting a proposal to open an unmanned port of entry as a security upgrade.

“So what did the president include in his September ‘surprise,’ his amazing job-creation plan?  Extending unemployment further than the 99 weeks already extended to.  Could it be that one of the reasons unemployment is so high is people are sleeping in, nestled next to their iPads, instead of knocking on doors, making sales calls?”

“With its recent decisions to take up a trio of major cases, the U.S. Supreme Court has signaled that it will become a major player in the 2012 election. 

“The court’s decision Monday to review Arizona’s controversial illegal immigration law was just the latest addition to what many see as its most important and politically charged docket in recent years. The court also said late Friday that it would review a contentious redistricting situation in Texas, and perhaps most importantly, a few weeks ago it said it would examine President Obama’s health-care bill. 

“All three rulings, on their surface at least, favor Republicans, as the GOP had been seeking to get the high court to tackle those issues.”

DEMOCRATS CONTINUE PRESS FOR 'BIGGER GOVERNMENT' AS 2/3 OF AMERICANS CONSIDER THAT A THREAT

Two in three Americans (64%) say big government will be the biggest threat to the country, one percentage point lower than the record high, and more than twice the number who say the same about big business (26%). Democrats have led the recent increase in concerns about big government.
