This week Government-owned Fannie Mae asked the federal government for another $7.8 billion for their July to September quarter. The company already has received more federal funds than any other private entity. Fannie complains it lost $7.6 billion last quarter because of low mortgage rates, lower profits, and an increasing amount of defaults by homeowners on loans that the company guaranteed them. In 2008, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were bailed out — or artificially propped up — through tax dollars, which numbered at least $169 billion. Upon receiving the funds, Fannie became property of the federal government, and has been run by a federal overseer.

Republican senators tried to get Holder to take some of the responsibility; but he did not. Some lawmakers were hoping that Eric Holder would FINALLY tell the whole truth. They were disappointed. U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) gave Holder an opportunity to apologize to the family of murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, where two Fast and Furious guns were found at the murder scene.

Chris Crane, president of the union that represents the nation’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, has provided the House Judiciary Committee and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) with what Crane says are internal ICE emails that back up testimony he gave in July and October that ICE headquarters had verbally ordered officers in the field not to arrest illegal aliens who did not have prior criminal convictions--even if they were fugitives evading deportation orders or were individuals who had illegally re-entered the United States after being deported and were thus committing a felony.
