Daniel Bongino has raised eyebrows in the famously private and apolitical agency with his bid to represent Maryland in the US senate.

If this was a Republican Movement....

I had the opportunity to speak at a local Tea Party event in April, with the Chino Hills Tea Party Group, in Southern CA. The speech was not about the GOP in anyway, and in prior speeches that I have given, I had not broached the subject of the GOP, nor had I mentioned the word RINO.

However, I decided to include a short segment on the GOP and the Tea Party movement. FYI, also present and speaking at the meeting was Congressman Gary Miller (R).

If this movement was a 'Republican Movement', then why would millions of Americans, supposedly all Republicans, start acting differently than they had in prior election cycles? Why wouldn't we simply return to putting signs in our yards, bumper stickers on the cars, and write checks to the RNC? (Granted, in higher numbers and with more fervor!)

I'm starting to lose faith in the media’s propagandist idea that “if you repeat a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it.” Sadly, there is no definitive version of this quote and we do not know who said it, though it is mostly attributed to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels. With the stock market losing value daily, unemployment above 9 percent again, home prices still falling, four new wars started by Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama, the media are preoccupied with the emails of a former governor from Alaska and what she said about Paul Revere.

RESTORE AMERICA'S FREEDOM, REPEAL LIGHT BULB ACT!

In just a few months, the Renewable Fuels, Consumer Protection and Energy Efficient Act of 2007 will take effect, removing SAFE incandescent light bulbs from store shelves, and replacing them with expensive light-emitting diodes (LEDs), toxic compact fluorescent (CFLs), and dangerous halogen bulbs.

This is why Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), introduced the Better Use of Light Bulbs (BULB) Act that wouldREPEAL the law that phases out 100 watt and 75 watt incandescent light bulbs and ends production of traditional incandescent light bulbs in the United States by 2015.

Several countries have laws that phase out manufacturing of traditional incandescent lights from 2012 through 2014, with most prompting their replacement with toxic CFLs, or halogen bulbs that are a fire hazard!

The Wall Street Journal reports that: LEDs remain the priciest option, with 9-watt and 13-watt bulbs that replace 40-watt and 60-watt incandescent models costing from $20 to $55 each. ... San Jose, Calif.-based Switch Bulb Co., says this fall it will offer an LED substitute for the 100-watter with suggested retail price of about $30.

For the folks concerned about the "depressing times," I recently read a short book by Robert A. Hall titled "The Coming Collapse of the American Republic: And what you can do to prevent it" (I bought it on Amazon.com). The author has considerable experience as a state legislator and has been executive director for several professional associations (including the Florida Psychological Association). Not only does he analyze what is happening and what caused it, but he offers seemingly astute recommendations for remedies. He does not consider one political party to be more or less at fault than the other--it is the system that is the problem. Certainly psychologists have the potential to change the system. --Cordially, Bob Woody

Stop the Confirmation of Leon E. Panetta for Secretary of Defense

On Thursday, April 28, 2011 President Obama announced changes to his National Security team, which included the announcement that he would appoint former California U.S. Congressman and current CIA Director Leon E. Panetta to replace Bush-appointee Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense.

The appointment of Panetta for such a critical leadership position of our nation’s national security and armed forces is all too reminiscent of past nefarious appointments to strategic positions such as the elevation to positions of trust of Alger Hiss by the Roosevelt and Truman administrations. The President and Congress then, like the current Panetta hearings conducted on Thursday, June 9, ignored the nominee’s past record concerning national security.
