Holiday ObamaCare News Dump

As everyone was closing up shop last Wednesday for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Obama administration was dumping more inconvenient news. Something tells us, however, that it wasn't part of Obama's suggested Thanksgiving table talking points.
The White House delayed for one year the online ObamaCare exchange for small businesses. (There goes our shopping list!) Perhaps Healthcare.gov -- the individual exchange -- has been such a handful that they haven't even bothered to start building the site for small businesses. Since Oct. 1, small businesses have been able to use paper applications, but instead of the online option, HHS offers alternatives such as working with agents or brokers or buying directly through insurers. According to HHS, "We've concluded that we can best serve small employers by continuing this offline process while we concentrate on both creating a smoothly functioning online experience in the SHOP [Small Business Health Options Program] Marketplace, and adding key new features, including an employee choice option and premium aggregation services, by November 2014." It seems like something else happens in 2014 -- what was that again?

Bilbray-Kohn: Running from ObamaCare

The American Action Network is running a series of “Cyber Monday” web ads today focusing on Democrats who appear to have been for ObamaCare before they were against it, including Nevada Democrat congressional candidate Erin Bilbray-Kohn.

AAN ad notes that at an Obama for America campaign event last June, Bilbray-Kohn declared that "President Obama passed the affordable care act to restore health care as a basic cornerstone of security for the middle class."

Leave aside for the moment that President Obama didn’t pass ObamaCare; Congress did.  You would hope that someone running for, you know, Congress, would understand that Congress passes bill and the president either signs or vetoes them.  But let’s not quibble.

Bilbray-Kohn added that ObamaCare “does not only cut down health care costs, but creates a better quality of life for us all."

New Poll: 59 Percent Oppose Obamacare's HHS Mandate, Opposition Builds as Consequences Become Clear

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Family Research Council (FRC) and Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) released the results of a commissioned national survey showing that 59 percent of likely voters "oppose the mandate requiring the coverage of preventive care services for women which includes all FDA approved contraceptives, including drugs that can destroy a human embryo, and sterilization services without a direct cost to the patient."
The poll, conducted by WPA Opinion Research from November 18-20, sought to determine how likely voters feel about Obamacare overall, and their opinion regarding the HHS mandate. WPA noted that "Obamacare has seen its public support drop as the unadvertised consequences of the law have become clear. The mandated coverage of drugs that can destroy a human embryo, are just another instance of this."

NEVER FEAR - THE GRAY HAIRS ARE HERE!

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. If all of us "old people" have all of the money, then let us try to elect someone who might be near honest and not be after feathering their own nests.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

1.  Healthcare.gov Still Barely Works
As we get back up and running from the Thanksgiving Holiday, the deadline for the Obamacare website has come and gone. CNN was able to get it to crash live on national television.

But that’s okay. The Obama Administration got the New York Times to run a full page ad . . . errr . . . they actually called it journalism … claiming that the site is better. They can’t actually claim it is fully operational, but remember their goal before we adjourned for Thanksgiving was just 80%.
