Turns out John McCain was willing to shut down the military to stop Obamacare back at the end of 2009.
Though attacking Ted Cruz for daring to risk a
government shut down, McCain and a number of other Republicans were
willing to try that in 2009, only to see other Republicans undermine
them.

HOW TO TURN UP THE VOLUME ON THE SENATE
Many Senate Republicans are ignoring the voice of the people just like the Democrats did in 2010 when Obamacare passed. It's time to TURN UP THE HEAT!
The cloture vote to stop debate on the Senate Floor is at 12:30pm on Friday. Do not let the Senate GOP cave. They must continue debate on the bill until there is a guaranteed up/down vote on the House CR otherwise Sen. Reid’s amendment to fund Obamacare and remove "Full Faith and Credit" will pass in the continuing resolution. Use the list at the end of the email to call, email, and tweet your Senators to demand they vote no on cloture and demand to know whether they are going to ignore the voice of the people the way the Senate who passed Obamacare did in 2010 or are they actually going to represent us.

The reference here is USA Today, September 17, "Shooting Rampage at Navy Yard Leaves 13 Dead."
This
isn't some little local paper. It's big-time national media. So one
would expect that, when it develops a crucial story line, it would
follow up on it, press it, keep digging into it.
Here
is the USA quote from 9/ 17: "A federal law enforcement official said
