Alert: Hi, especially to all you "yessers" that are in favor of amnesty, in some or any form. As it stands now, we'll likely close down data input in a couple of days. The results are an overwhelming record for our polls.  So, if you want to be represented, NOW is the time to do it...or forever hold your silence.
The question is:   Are you in favor of amnesty, in any form? Yes or No?

Morning Briefing
For May 9, 2013

1.  Idols of Awesome and Shibboleths of Community
Every once in a while I stumble over something that opens my eyes wide to a lot of the silliness of secularism that pervades evangelicalism and, in turn, warps the whole of generations. Anthony Bradley points out that there is a crazy movement going on right now within young evangelical circles to shun the suburbs and engage in a “new legalism” of radical faith.

The best I can figure is that somehow suburbs are just bad. (Read Keith Miller on this point) I think there is something bigger than that and it goes beyond evangelicals to, particularly, millenials and those who close out the tail end of Gen X and Y. We’ve made idols of the awesome in our lives. All of us.

Each of us forms in our head an ideal. Instead of enjoying our present where, as CS Lewis noted, we are closest to God, we either look to a future that may or may not be, or we hold on to a past that maybe was not as shiny as we think. Then we surround ourselves with others and, in a culture of Baby Boomer grandparents and their offspring, decide our life will not be fulfilled unless it is in some way awesome. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

GOP COUNTY CHAIR DEBATE

Put it on your calendar NOW

Citizen Outreach and KDWN 720 AM will be hosting a debate between Clark County Republican Party Chairman Cindy Lake and her challenger in the July election, Dave McKeon, at our monthly First Friday Happy Hour event on Friday, June 7, 2013!

Our regular happy hour will run from 5-6 p.m.  Network, have a couple drinks, chow down on some onion rings…and then getting ready for sparks to fly during the one-hour, no-holds-barred, to-and-fro between these two individuals who want to lead the Clark County GOP into the 2014 election cycle.

Venue: Las Vegas Bahama Breeze on the northwest corner of Flamingo and Paradise in the Hughes Center.  $5 donation requested at the door.  Seating limited, so get there early.

CONSERVATIVES OPPOSED TO THE INTERNET TAX

I will remind you that only ONE Nevada legislator, Assemblyman Wes Duncan, voted “No” on the Internet tax resolution.  I’ll also note that U.S. Sen. Dean Heller opposes this so-called/misnamed “Marketplace Fairness Act.”

OBAMA'S PRAETORIAN GUARD HAS BEEN QUIETLY FUNDED! BEWARE#!

Is there an Obama Youth Army? Did H.R. 1388 start one? Or did FEMA Corps? or AmeriCorps? If it’s “volunteer” does that ease one’s fears that this government-funded-and-controlled Youth Army could be used against American citizens instead of for them?
Does this tie in with his call for government-funded 4 year old “education” that he recently mentioned in his State of the Union address?
Remember these astonishing words from Obama on July 2, 2008 in Colorado Springs during the 2008 presidential campaign, when he deviated from his pre-released speech script and said:
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.“
