RedState Briefing 03/28/2013

Morning Briefing
For March 28, 2013

1.  Christians Side With Mammon. Mammon Sided with Barabbas.
1,980 years ago tomorrow, the world put God on trial. When offered a choice, the world surrendered up God to be tortured, crucified, and killed and asked that Pontius Pilate free the criminal Barabbas instead.

There is no compromise between Christ and the world. Young evangelicals, complacent in the United States and unharassed, would do wise to remember this.

Tim Keller, a noted preacher in my denomination (Presbyterian Church in America), made news yesterday when he talked about evangelicals coming to terms with gay marriage. In particular he said that “you can believe homosexuality is a sin and still believe that same-sex marriage should be legal.” . . . please click here for the rest of the post

SCOTUS MUST RULE BY U.S. CONSTITUTION OR BE IMPEACHED

Impeaching Supreme Court Justices

Author
- Matt Shipley (Bio and ArchivesThursday, March 28, 2013

Most Americans incorrectly believe Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life and therefore somehow immune from public accountability, but this understanding is contrary to the Constitution and detrimental to our Republic.
Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution states, “The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour.” Accordingly, it is for a term of good behavior our federal judges hold their office, not life, and they can be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
Misdemeanors, as the founders defined them, includes attempts to subvert the Constitution through misinterpretation or other methods. George Mason explained that impeachment is for “attempts to subvert the Constitution,” and Elbridge Jerry considered “mal-administration” as grounds for impeachment. Justice Joseph Story listed, among other reasons for impeachment, “unconstitutional opinions” and “attempts to subvert the fundamental law and introduce arbitrary power.” Alexander Hamilton and Justice Story defined “misdemeanor” as “mal-conduct” and Justices James Wilson and Story described “misdemeanors” as “non-statutory”, which means they are offenses for which no legal code exists.

NEVADA - DEMAND BENGHAZI INVESTIGATION ASAP!

*** NEVADA LEGISLATIVE ACTION ALERT ***

WHY HAVE YOUR FEDERAL REPS NOT YET
COSPONSORED H. RES. 36 TO INVESTIGATE THE
BENGHAZI ATTACK?

by Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations

Dear Conservatives,

The U.S. Congress is in recess for the next two weeks. That means your federal legislators are out of hectic Washington, DC and back home in their communities. Their time at home is an excellent opportunity for you—their constituents—to contact them about important issues, and that is why I’m writing to you today.

As you may know, Representative Frank Wolf (VA) has introduced H. Res. 36, legislation that would create a special short-term (90 day) congressional committee to investigate what happened in Benghazi last September 11th when a U.S. Ambassador and three other Americans were killed, and many others injured.

Cyprus is imposing unprecedented controls on Cypriot bank depositors moving their money within the common euro currency union as it looks to reopen its banks Thursday.
Cypriot Finance Minister Michael Sarris said the controls are necessary to restore confidence in the island nation’s banking system.
“We believe that some sort of capital controls that will moderate whatever outflows are bound to happen will restore confidence and they will be removed in a relatively short period of time in agreement with, that I say, the general rules of the eurozone and the European Union,” he said.
