The 'fiscal cliff' debate is in swing, and the U.S. Congress is clamoring to find so-called solutions through coming to a bi-partisan "compromise" on financial matters. So far they are off to a terrible start: already we have seen the GOP establishment boot out fiscal conservatives from key committees, and we have also seen that the "no tax" Republicans want to raise taxes by the billions! 

Sen. Rand Paul comments, stating: "One party proposes 800 billion in tax increases. In an effort to counter them and continue to be the "low tax, small government" party, the other party's leadership proposes....wait for it...800 billion in tax increases." He adds, "As my good friend Jim DeMint says, if you are speeding toward a cliff at 80mph, putting on the cruise control is not really a viable solution."

1. Reasonableness

The unreasonable Republicans in the House of Representatives are willing to raise taxes by $800 billion.

Anti-tax Republicans will raise taxes. I’m not happy about it, but that is what John Boehnerand Mitch McConnell seem to be offering.

They want to raise that money by limiting deductions instead of raising rates.

They do not want to raise rates because that will impact many small businesses in America whose owners pay their taxes as individuals instead of corporations due to the unreasonable and costly compliance of the American corporate tax code.

Raising rates will affect small businesses. Limiting individual deductions related to state income taxes, charitable deductions, mortgage interest, etc. will not impact those small businesses.

     Just after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, the Senate did it again. By a vote of 98-0 (two senators abstained) lawmakers in the upper chamber approved the Fiscal Year 2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Not a single senator objected to the passage once again of a law that purports to permit the president, supported by nothing more substantial than his own belief that the suspect poses a threat to national security, to deploy the U.S. military to arrest an American living in America.   LINK
