The Democrats majority-hold on the United States Senate is only a recent fact. Just a few years ago they were in the minority, outnumbered by Republicans. In 2006, the GOP majority once contemplated changing Senate rules by a vote of 51 – rather than the general 2/3 majority – and the Democrats kicked and screamed in opposition. They clamored that the GOP’s possible invocation of the rare 51-vote option was the wrong thing to do; in fact, they called the method the “nuclear option,” suggesting that it, like a hypothetical bomb, would blow up the workings of the Senate.

Quite an astounding tribute to the courage and bravery of the two former Navy Seals that went to the aid of Ambassador Stevens and Embassy staff. Courageous!
Recently I was teaching a class in my church on the biblical character, Joshua. You remember him – he’s the one who took over for Moses to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. God made several promises to Joshua in the opening verses of this book of the Bible named after him. Three times God instructs Joshua to “be strong and courageous.” In fact, one of those times God instructed him to be “very courageous.” The road ahead was a tough one and Joshua would need to be up to the task.
The news has been full of the attacks on our embassies throughout the Muslim world, and in particular, the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others in Benghazi , Libya . However, apart from the shameful amount of disinformation willingly distributed by the Main Stream Media and the current administration, there’s a little known story of incredible bravery, heroics, and courage that should be the top story of every news agency across the fruited plain.

My prediction on the Fiscal Cliff: They will kick the can down the road six months, then not do anything for five months until we are in the same situation again.
I’m coming around to the view that the GOP should say: “We disagree with the tax increases, as we think they will hurt the economy by taking needed venture capital out of job creation and from small businesses. But if we vote “No” or “Yes,” the Obama-friendly media will blame us for whatever bad happens and give him credit for any good results, even if they are based on international trends. So we are going to take a page from then-State Senator Obama’s playbook, and vote “Present,” and let him have his tax increases. The country voted for Obamanomics and deserves to get it. Good and hard. Then the Democrats will own the success or failure of the economy, with no one to blame. Though we are sure they will try to find a scapegoat if things go bad.”
Heard this before: “I will gladly cut the deficit someday for a tax hike today.” We are expected to believe that if the Republican will only raise taxes now, eventually the Democrat senate—which hasn’t been able to pass a budget at all in over three years—will eventually cut the budget. This is Lucy and the Football, Charlie Brown.
One silver lining to Obama’s reelection: We will go on using drones to turn terrorists, suspected terrorists and anyone who is near them into red smears. Would have done the same under Romney, I suspect, but the media would have begun howling about civilian deaths and alienating “allies” like Pakistan. For Obama, they will stay silent on this as on all criticism.

Only a fool would think that the same Congress that got us in this mess can get us out of this mess.
The fiscal cliff is the byproduct of multiple congressional compromises to kick several different cans down the road. Now they’ve all landed in the same spot. Both sides are trying to kick multiple cans at one time and are kicking each other instead.
What’s really going on in Washington right now is Republicans are in theater trying to look like the reasonable party. They want back in the good graces of the American public and want to at least save some face when polling says they’ll probably get blamed and their position is unpopular.
They might as well give it up. They’re going to get the blame no matter what happens. They are disjointed with bad spokesmen. One is orange and the other . . . well . . . .
