FEDS TRYING TO STOP ALL OIL PRODUCTION WITH OBAMA DIRECTING THEM!

Dear Conservatives, The Feds are doing all they can to put a stop to hydraulic fracturing on Federal and Indian lands. We can’t let them take away this country’s golden opportunity for safe natural gas production.  Natural gas and oil production opportunities around the country have increased dramatically with the innovation of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling.  One place that production has been stifled is Federal and Indian lands in the West. Hydraulic fracturing has been around for more than 60 years and has proven to be a safe and efficient technique for natural gas and oil production.  Despite what you hear from the frantic environmentalists and media, there hasn’t been a single case of contaminated water ever connected to hydraulic fracturing.  In fact, recent tests from Dimock, Pennsylvania, which were made famous in the environmental propaganda film Gasland, showed that the water is safe to drink and gas production hasn’t harmed the area.

No, I’m not going to the Convention; I’ll be ignoring it on TV pretty much the same way I ignored the Olympics for the past two weeks.

Which reminds me: I don’t care what other nations do; I still find it terribly inappropriate for the United States to be sending professional NBA players to compete in the Olympics rather than college basketball players.  Celebrating winning a U.S. Gold Medal in basketball under these circumstances would like the New York Yankees celebrating winning the Little League World Series.

Where’s the honor in that?

THIS IS WHY WE MUST GET UNIONS OUT OF OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM!

Dear Conservatives,

"When schoolchildren start paying union dues, that's when I'll start representing the interests of schoolchildren." 

That's a statement long-attributed to the late American Federation of Teachers union boss Al Shanker, first quoted in a Mississippi newspaper in 1985.

The reality of where teacher union-boss interests lie is as true today as it was then,  as I wrote in a column in theWashington Examiner:

The fact is that teachers union officials, armed with monopoly-bargaining privileges, often fail to represent the interests of many talented and hardworking teachers as well as the interests of schoolchildren.

We've seen new powerful examples in recent weeks.
