We noted in our first piece on the Alton Sterling shooting that while he appeared to reach for a firearm in his pocket, it was still disputable. Only one video was available at the time, and it wasn’t of the best quality. A second video has surfaced, and it does appear to validate the police narrative on the shooting. The blog Blue Lives Matter has a fantastic analysis of the new video: One of the first items of note in the video is that Alton Sterling’s left hand was clearly restrained and under the control of Officer One. However, Sterling’s right hand is clearly not under control of the officers. In fact, Officer Two’s position would have made it all but impossible for him to effectively control Sterling’s hand. You can see moments where Sterling is moving his elbow, making a pulling motion. Officer Two can be seen fighting Sterling for control of his hand. Later in the video you can see Officer One remove a gun from Sterling’s right pocket. The only logical conclusion is that Sterling was reaching for his gun. If somebody has two police officers pointing guns at them, while telling them not to move after discovering their gun, and the person then reaches towards their gun, then it’s really obvious that they are trying to get to their gun. We have clear evidence here that Sterling was going for a gun at the time he was shot. You may have also noticed in this video that the first shots didn’t appear to be fired by Officer One, as many had assumed. You can see Officer One’s pistol when the first shots are heard, and there is no visible muzzle flash. This means that the first shots fired likely came from either Officer Two’s gun, or Sterling’s gun. It should also be noted that even if Sterling was unable to retrieve his gun from his pocket, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t have fired it. Pockets generally aren’t bulletproof. Once again — as we reported regarding the tragic death of Philando Castile, there are always two (if not more) sides to every story. Unfortunately too many people – including our president and the mainstream media — are all too eager to jump to conclusions before all the facts are presented. Yes, the nation is once again horrified to learn another black man tragically lost his life after an altercation with police. Alton Sterling was shot and killed Tuesday just after midnight in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Listen to the liberal narrative and you’ll hear that Sterling was killed for selling CDs outside of a Triple S Food Mart. There’s a bit more to the story, of course. Police were called after Sterling had been threatening a homeless man with a firearm for asking him if he had any spare change. The homeless man had made the 911 call. After police arrived, Sterling had resisted arrest, and appeared to make a grab for his firearm at one point. This is still disputable, however. In the video footage of the shooting, you can hear the officer shout “He’s got a gun!” and “if you f—king move, I swear to God.” One of the officers then says something unintelligible, and two shots are fired. So who is Alton Sterling? For starters, liberals should know he possessed an illegal firearm. As a felon with a lengthy rap sheet, Sterling is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. Police records show Sterling had been a member of the Bloods gang, and had a list of offenses including battery, assault, drugs and weapons charges, and owed $25,000 in child support. He was also a registered pedophile, having impregnated a 14-year-old girl when he was 20. The media, by contrast, has portrayed him as a loving father of five.   Here is a selection of his prior charges. You can also review his court documents here. 9/09/96 – Aggravated battery 10/31/97 – 2nd degree battery 1/06/98 – Simple battery 5/04/00 – Public intimidation 9/20/00 – Carnal knowledge of a juvenile 9/04/01 – Domestic violence 5/24/05 – Burglary of an inhabited dwelling place 7/11/05 – Receiving stolen things 9/12/05 – Burglary of inhabited dwelling place 3/17/06 – Simple criminal damage to property, simple robbery, simple theft, drug possession, misrepresentation during booking, simple battery, aggravated battery 4/12/06 – Aggravated battery, simple criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace, unauthorized entry 4/04/08 – Domestic abuse battery 6/03/09 – Resisting an officer, drug possession, receiving stolen things, possession of stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon with CDs, sound reproduct without consent 10/12/09 – Illegal carrying of weapon, marijuana possession 8/13/15 – Failure to register as a sex offender 4/08/16 – Failure to register as a sex offender 6/14/16 – Ecstacy and marijuana possession What happened is undoubtedly tragic. The circumstances of the shooting still aren’t completely clear, and nobody deserves to die just for having a criminal record.
