Politifact Lie of the Year: Obama’s “If You Like Your Health Plan You Can Keep It”
When Congress debated the Obamacare health care law, pro-life advocates were often the one early voice exposing how the law would cause rationing of life-saving care. Obamacare supporters have mocked the claim and the media went after Sarah Palin saying Americans should be concerned about “death panels.”
With Obamacare not yet going into full effect, Americans are already losing their insurance plans.
Belgium: Senate Approves Measure Allowing Doctors to Euthanize Children
The Belgian Senate voted today 50-17 to extend euthanasia to children with disabilities, in a move pro-life advocates worldwide had been fearing would come and expand an already much-abused euthanasia law even further.
The vote today in the full Senate comes after a Senate committee voted 13-4 to allow minors to seek euthanasia under certain conditions and the measure also would extend the right to request euthanasia to adults with dementia. There is still a chance to stop the bill in the House of Representatives, though pro-life campaigners fear it will become law.

House budget bargain faces Senate filibuster; Republicans line up to oppose

House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio leaves a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, where he vehemently rebuked conservative groups who oppose the pending bipartisan budget compromise struck by House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Senate Budget Committee Chair Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. Boehner said the GOP leadership has had enough tea party-driven intransigence in Congress and he doesn’t care what they think. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Christmas in Chains

In December of 2011, seven Christians in Laos were arrested and imprisoned by the local police for organizing a Christmas celebration in their village. The village chief said that the event was "against local customs". The believers were detained, and authorities demanded that they pay 10 million Lao Kip for their freedom.

"On the night we were imprisoned, the police threw a big rock at the house where we were gathered, which fell through the roof," recalled Akamu, a Christian farmer. "The guards threatened us, saying we each had to pay two million Lao Kip and a cow. They also threatened to throw us out of the village."

"They put handcuffs on our hands and shackles on our feet," said Inoke, the only woman in the group. "We were kept together in one small room for twenty days. It was like ...

Obama Traps Insurers - Single Payer Knocks

It appears Barack Obama has lied and defrauded his way into his dream of single payer insurance sooner than most think.  His move demanding insurers cover Americans who have not paid premiums both in and out of network, boxes the nation’s insurers in a corner, signals the end of insurance companies as they operate today and brings us within months of a single payer health system.

The president can accomplish his objective because he has successfully and brutally vilified insurance companies until they are less popular than he.

Here is how Obama gets to single payer:

IRS: The Left's Weapon of Choice

Here's a question: When did it become acceptable for the IRS to be used as a tool to target enemies of the president? Moreover, what article or amendment of the U.S. Constitution authorizes a component of the Executive Branch to be used as a powerful political weapon? The answers to these questions should be obvious to most: "never" and "none," respectively. But apparently that's not so for Barack Obama.
Fresh from wiping mud off its face for its scandalous behavior in targeting the Left's political enemies, the IRS is proposing new rules that double-down on that egregious behavior. The new rules would restrain the free-speech rights of certain organizations under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code by preventing them from posting officeholder votes and quotes on their websites within two months of an election. These organizations are politically active nonprofits and exist specifically to promote political speech and issue advocacy. (And with the Senate "going nuclear" and allowing Obama to pack the courts -- especially the DC Circuit -- with leftists, the courts will surely uphold these new rules.)

Sandoval’s E-Tax and O-Care Could Come Back to Bite Him

Most of Nevada’s beleaguered taxpayers focus on the fact that Gov. Brian Sandoval (R&R-Partners) broke his word not to raise taxes by not once, but twice raising the “temporary” tax hikes approved in 2009; taxes that were supposed to “sunset” in 2011.  But the governor is also responsible for another tax hike coming to Nevada e-shoppers everywhere on New Year’s Day.

Indeed, beginning January 1, 2014 your purchases - which are currently made tax-free at - will be taxed, in addition to any shipping charges, thanks to some arm-twisting by Sandoval to get the company to collect the tax even though Nevada’s voters overwhelmingly rejected such an e-tax, not once, but twice at the ballot in 2008 and 2010.

So much for listening to the people.

RedState Briefing 12/13/2013

Morning Briefing
For December 13, 2013

1.  Boehner’s Crocodile Tears for Amnesty
It is an odd fight. Such a weird little battle over meaningless and known outcomes. Conservatives, aware from press reports and congressional leaks, knew what would be in the Paul Ryan drafted budget plan. The conservative groups released statements in opposition to the plan based on what they had been told. But there was never any doubt about the Ryan plan passing.

After the plan was publicly unveiled by the Republicans at six o’clock on a Tuesday night, conservative fears were realized. Those things they knew would be in the plan were, in fact, in the plan. The plan funded Obamacare. The plan raised taxes. The plan broke the sequestration spending limits that only a month before Republican leaders had said would never be broken.

Speaker Boehner then did something curious. He held two press conferences wherein he lashed out at conservative groups. He denounced them for making up their minds before the plan was publicly unveiled. Never mind that everyone knew what would be in the plan. Never mind that he only gave the public thirty-six hours to explore the text of the plan — a violation of a campaign promise to give at least seventy-two hours of examination. Speaker Boehner’s statement sounded like former Speaker Pelosi claiming we had to pass the Ryan plan to find out what was in the Ryan plan.
