Our staff has just learned from our contacts on Capitol Hill
that the House will vote next week on a bill that would
prohibit public funding of abortion in all federal programs
and would ensure that no federal funds would be used for
elective abortions.

The bill -- The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,
H.R. 3 -- was introduced by Representatives Chris Smith
(R-New Jersey) and Dan Lipinski (D-Illinois). It would
also codify the Hyde and Helms amendments, which currently
must be renewed every year, and would further protect the
conscience clause for medical professionals and institutions
found in the Hyde-Weldon amendment.

By Rick Manning – It is somewhat odd that one of President Ronald Reagan’s most often used quotes “Personnel is policy”, isn’t particularly eloquent although its alliteration and brevity make it memorable. Perhaps the three word phrase is remembered because it is succinct and accurate, even more so today than even 25 years ago. In the past week, America has gotten a double dose reminder of why this axiom is true through dual National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) actions aimed at forcing unionization on the nation’s private sector.

JUST WHO IS SILLY?

Dear Fellow Conservative,

Wednesday, during a press conference Barack Obama told Americans he doesn't have time for "silliness" and that and "we've got big problems to solve." But in yet another example of his rhetoric differing from reality, he immediately left the White House and spent the rest of his day filming an interview with Oprah in Chicago and raising an estimated two to three million dollars for his campaign coffers during a series of events in New York City.

I guess the problems he was referring to in his press conference have more to do with his sinking poll numbers and need for extra cash to spend on his reelection, because the silliest solution to our economic crisis is Barack Obama's plan for tax hikes and increased debt.

During a 30-minute stump speech focused mostly on foreign affairs, Trump sprinkled in a number of insults directed toward the nation's leaders.

A Republican official, this time a member of the Orange County, Calif., GOP Central Committee, stands accused of – racism!
Her crime?
She forwarded, to a circle of friends, an email depicting an image of a family of chimpanzees, with the superimposed face of President Barack Obama over the baby chimp's face. The caption read, "Now you know why no birth certificate." The national media soon picked up the story with the implicit "GOP-is-bigoted" story line.
Given her position as a central committee member, America's ugly history of demeaning images of blacks and the Democratic Party's unfair but calculated characterization of the Republican Party as racist the official exercised poor taste and bad judgment. She has apologized. But many demand her resignation.
This is a teachable moment.

The tension is the latest illustration of how the tea-party-infused GOP is driving the debate in Washington over federal spending. And it shows how the debt issue is testing the Obama administration’s clout as Democrats, particularly those from politically competitive states, resist White House arguments against setting conditions on legislation to raise the debt ceiling.
The push-back has come in recent days from Sens. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), a freshman who is running for reelection next year. Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) told constituents during the Easter recess that he would not vote to lift the debt limit without a “real and meaningful commitment to debt reduction.”

Illegal Immigrants Disregard Laws without Fear

Colorado is among the most tolerant sanctuary states when it comes to illegal immigration.  In recent years, such “forgiving” policy has resulted in a rash of fatal accidents caused by illegal immigrations, who in a less tolerant state would have been successfully deported long before others had to die.

Here is just one of the painful results of sanctuary state and city policies:

In January 2011, Norma Paola Vera-Nolasco, 31, was arrested at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, as she attempted to flee to Mexico.  Her crime? Vera-Nolasko was driving the truck that hit and killed valet, Jose Medina outside a Denver nightclub on January 22.  Twenty-one year-old Jose Medina was helping a woman exit her car when he was hit with such force that he was thrown 50 feet into the street.

Vera-Nolasco was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, criminal impersonation, and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. She was drunk at the time of the accident. In 2008, Vera-Nolasco was arrested in Aurora, CO, for driving without a license, but due to Aurora’s sanctuary policy, she was released without being reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM - PORKER OF THE MONTH!

Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has named Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) Porker of the Month for threatening to bring the Senate to a standstill over Congress’s failure to fund a $40,000 earmark for a federal study on deepening the port of Charleston.   On April 11, Sen. Graham threw a fit, telling reporters that he would “tie the Senate in knots” until the port study money was approved.  Unfortunately, the tantrum paid off.  Despite Congress’ ongoing earmark moratorium, on April 15 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) pledged on the Senate floor that he would find funding for the study before the end of fiscal year (FY) 2011.  “This project and the study it requires both reek of pork,” declared CAGW President Tom Schatz.  “There is absolutely no reason that taxpayers in places like Omaha or Denver should be forced to finance Charleston’s port.”  For insisting that federal taxpayers deep-six their dollars into a project that should be funded by the state and the private sector, CAGW named Sen.
