NEBRASKA - CONSERVATIVE BEN SASSE FOR U.S. SENATE - TAKE AMERICA BACK!

Dear Conservative,

You may not know me yet, but I’ve been called “the national anti-ObamaCare Senate candidate.” I embrace that label… because I’m pro-America.

If you’re like me, you’re afraid of what ObamaCare is doing to America. If ObamaCare is in our future, we won't be the same country we've always been. We'll be a lot less like the America our parents and grandparents gave us, and a lot more like the stagnant, decaying Republics of Western Europe. We can't let that happen. I need your help today.

My name is Ben Sasse, and I'm a candidate for United States Senate from Nebraska. I grew up in Fremont, Nebraska working hard every summer and then playing sports in the fall at my high school. I wanted to play football at Nebraska but it became clear pretty quickly that wasn't going to happen. I was a decent student though, and I worked hard as a wrestler, so, I ended up taking a scholarship to Harvard, and did my PhD at Yale.

My first job after college was working as a consultant who turned around broken companies. Then 9/11 happened and I went and joined the Department of Justice to see if I could help fix our broken intelligence apparatus.

It gave me a first-hand view of the waste and inefficiency of Government. I saw multiple agencies chasing Osama Bin Laden, mostly unaware that other agencies were chasing him too, hardly talking to each other and rarely sharing information.

Later, President George W. Bush asked me to be his Assistant Secretary of Health. Harry Reid delayed my confirmation for months because I was opposed to higher spending on entitlement programs. Eventually though, I was overwhelmingly confirmed.
(One thing I should point out to you here: I’ve fought Harry Reid before. I’ll do it again when I’m in the Senate.)

During my time at HHS, I learned a lot about health care. I've spent the better part of the last ten years in the health care sector, and I have intensely studied ObamaCare. The fact is, I'm one of the few people it seems who has actually read the two thousand, three hundred pages of ObamaCare, and let me just tell you--it's worse than you think. I understand the bill, I can explain the bill, and I know how to rip it apart. Since 2009, I’ve crisscrossed America, crusading against ObamaCare, telling anyone who would listen that this bill would be a disaster.

Here's the problem with ObamaCare: it's not just the roll out. It’s not just the humiliating excuse for a website that even has the liberal media turning on the Administration. And it's not just the fact that consumers who actually can get through the system are then stunned to learn that their premiums have skyrocketed by thousands of dollars.

No, this goes way beyond technological glitches. The problem with Obamacare is that it fundamentally changes the relationship between our Government and our citizens.

Republican leaders MUST be able to explain this to the American people, while also being honest about a sad truth: the current path we’ve been set on by President Obama is toward a socialist European style decline.

We must believe again that we can give our children a better nation than our parents gave us — and this is getting harder to believe every day. But I do believe this, and that is why I am in this race. Not just for a Senate seat, but for America.

I reject the idea that Government can create happiness for us. I reject the view that everything meaningful comes out of Washington. That’s why I am running for Senate—to roll back ObamaCare, and to explain to the American people what a constructive conservative vision really looks like.

What we need most today in Washington are people who are not only willing to stick to their core principles but also able to articulate real conservative solutions. We won’t win by being the party of no. Ours is a mission of restoration and renewal, and we simply must prevail.

Our nation stands at a crossroads. We will either allow the tide of Government to rise, replacing freedom with dependency -- or we will stop it, right here, right now, and preserve this nation as the “last, best hope on earth” our parents and grandparents gave us.

This week I was honored to be endorsed by the group Senator Jim DeMint started, Senate Conservatives Fund. They were some of the first supporters of conservatives like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul, who have brought a much-needed sense of urgency to the fight.

I want to join them, and I’m all in for this battle. I hope that you are too. Will you join me?

For America,

Ben Sasse

P.S. I've been called "the national anti-ObamaCare candidate" and endorsed by Jim DeMint's Senate Conservatives Fund, the same group that endorsed Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Pat Toomey. I'm asking for your support too. Will you join us today?
