1. Lies, Damn Lies, and Republican Senators
Turns out John McCain was willing to shut down the military to stop Obamacare back at the end of 2009.
Though attacking Ted Cruz for daring to risk a
government shut down, McCain and a number of other Republicans were
willing to try that in 2009, only to see other Republicans undermine
them.
Texas Senator John Cornyn is sending out
fundraising letters telling people the GOP needs just 5 Democrats to
help them defund Obamacare. This is a man who refuses to stand with Ted
Cruz, is scared of a government shut down, but is trying to convince
people he believes 5 Democrats can be pressured to help him defund
Obamacare and not have a government shutdown.
I am beginning to wonder if John Cornyn is developing dementia the way he is behaving.
Tennessee
Senator Bob Corker threw a hissy fit on the Senate floor yesterday. He
actually accused Ted Cruz and Mike Lee of actually wanting the American
public to be able to watch the Senate vote to fund Obamacare. Don’t
believe me? Here are his actual words . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2. Cruz vs. McConnell and Why it Matters
The most shocking thing about Ted Cruz’s
21-hour filibuster was not that the courageous Texan managed to stand
for 21 and 19 minutes. What was truly shocking, however, were the
criticisms coming from Sen. Cruz’s own Republican colleagues.
Every
Republican politician in Washington has campaigned against Obamacare. A
good number of senators and representatives were elected to Congress on a
platform of repealing Obamacare no matter what it takes. But when push
came to shove, when the occasion demanded courage and guts, most of
these Republicans were nowhere to be found, including the so-called
leader of the Republican Party, Sen. Mitch McConnell. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3. Government by demand
The laws
of supply and demand are beautiful things – expressions of logic as
elementary as the basic laws of physics, which govern everything except
the more unruly subatomic particles, which thumb their noses at laws,
dress like slobs, and listen to the kind of music that drives their
parent atoms crazy.
Supply
and demand even applies to the use of government power, although the
highest imperative of socialism is to pretend otherwise. There is always enormous demand for government. Lots of people want State power to be deployed for their benefit, or to punish their competitors. (That’s why Big Business is not at all antithetical to Big Government.) There is a bottomless appetite for “free” goodies. Lots
of people will always believe that any given social problem can be
solved through the application of coercive force, which they prefer to
think of as “political leadership” – smart people rolling up their
sleeves and bringing order out of chaos. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
4. @BarackObama kills Big Bird’s health care.
You
know, a competent administration would have someone on staff whose job
it would be to keep track of potentially awkward symbolic moments, in
order to keep them from exploding in their boss’s face. Apparently not. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
5. Small businesses must …fax… their #obamacare exchange applications in.
Yes,
faxes are still a thing, apparently. You can even do them from your
computer. And if you’re a small business owner wanting to get Obamacare
coverage, you’re going to have to! . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
