THE REID JUICE JOB: IT STINKS!
Henderson City Councilman Sam Bateman said he voted to hire Sen. Harry Reid’s son to be the city’s new city attorney because he was the best qualified (after the council dumbed down the qualifications so that Josh Reid would qualifiy).
He also said, presumably with a straight face, that Poppa Reid’s lobbying on his boy’s behalf had no influence on Bateman’s decision to hire the son of Nevada’s #1 and the nation’s #2 most powerful Democrat elected official.
But back to the most qualified contention. Riddle me this, Batman...
After it was discovered that the qualifications for the position had been watered down – kinda like Nevada’s high school graduation requirements – in order for Josh Reid to qualify; and after it was publicly disclosed that Josh’s father was putting the “subtle” strong arm on Bateman and Henderson’s Mayor Andy Hafen (whose daughter used to work for the senior Reid)…. (let's all hope the other candidate sues!)
How many attorneys who actually met the original qualification requirements and were possibly even BETTER candidates for the job saw the Harry Reid juice job that was in motion and didn’t even bother to apply?
Actually, didn’t a qualified applicant WITHDRAW from consideration after learning of the Harry Reid lobbying campaign? Why, yes he did!
This hiring stinks to high heaven. Henderson voters need to clean out the stall, hose it down, and spray the place with a serious anti-Reid disinfectant.

THE “WHERE’S WALDO?” REPORT
Morning Score helpfully lets us know where the GOP presidential candidates are campaigning today:
Gingrich hosts a town hall in Greenville, South Carolina. Cain has three events in Ohio. Huntsman and Perry address the New Hampshire state house in Concord. Bachmann has town halls in Cedar Falls, Waverly and Charles City, Iowa, today.
Hmm, not a single campaign stop by any of the Republican candidates in the “First in the West/Fifth in the Nation” state. Go figure.

BITE US, NEW HAMPSHIRE!
New Hampshire might have been able to bully Nevada into not treading on its “first in the nation” status for the presidential nomination process, but TownHall.com isn’t so easily strong-armed. As such, the conservative online news and opinion blog will be giving you an opportunity to participate in a pre-New Hampshire GOP primary, regardless of what state you call home.
TownHall’s largest online “Republican National Primary” voting will begin December 13, 2011 at 7:00 AM EST and it will close on December 15, 2011 at 4:30 PM EST.
In order to vote, you must be a registered user of Townhall.com or HotAir.com. You may also register prior to December 11, 2011 at TownhallPrimary.com. Every eligible voter will receive an email on December 13, 2011 with instructions on how to vote. You will only be allowed to vote one time.
Now here’s an interesting twist: TownHall says it will only include “Actively campaigning presidential candidates who are polling at five percent or better in the Townhall.com NationalPollTracker Average on December 11, 2011.” As of yesterday morning when I checked, not only would that leave Gary Johnson out, but it would also exclude Jon Huntsman, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum.
Now if only someone in Vegas would post odds on the outcome…..

FAMOUS LAST WORDS
"He did more than misspeak. He did more than recklessly attack his own base and generally act like the class bully assigned to spend study hall with the chess club. He did more than forget his talking points and display an uncomfortable lack of knowledge of important topics. He simply suffocated. With one disastrous performance after another, he proved that he did not belong on the stage...he has shown in the last five months that he is woefully unprepared to run for president." – New Hampshire Union-Leader editor Drew Cline on why the paper did not endorse Rick Perry (it endorsed Newt), 11/30/11
