MARYLAND - NO LONGER A SAFE HAVEN FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS?

DC AND MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD TO JOIN SECURE COMMUNITIES

Washington, DC, and Montgomery County, MD – two of the top destinations for illegal immigrants on the East Coast – will soon be joining the Secure Communities program to run inmates’ fingerprints against federal databases as part of an effort to deport ‘criminal’ illegal immigrants.

The District and Montgomery County have long clung to the belief that participation in the program is optional until Immigration and Customs Enforcement canceled all agreements with individual jurisdictions that were giving the impression.
