NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear Friend,
Happy Easter to you and a happy and blessed Passover to all celebrating. Our celebrations look different this year, but still bring the opportunity for reflection, renewal and gratitude. Doctors, healthcare workers and first responders stand on the front lines of fighting COVID-19 every day while law enforcement officials keep us safe at home and our troops protect our freedoms abroad. We continue to follow CDC guidelines and the recommendations of the state of Florida. Our neighbors, family members and friends are donating resources and time to work to mitigate the spread of this virus. There is much to be thankful for in this season. I am particularly grateful, as I recently tested positive for COVID-19 - I am at home, isolating myself, and feeling well. I wish you all celebrations of peace and hope that you will continue to follow my updates on COVID-19 and utilize the resources provided in this newsletter. Please read about my week below:Personal NewsMany of you might have seen the news about my recent trip to the hospital and my positive test for COVID-19, but I believe you all should hear it from me, as well. I'm feeling great and I cannot thank you enough for all of the support. We must continue to do what we can to target vulnerable places and populations to slow the spread of this disease. Together, we can beat this. Click here to watch the video announcement about my COVID-19 test results. Bringing Kristen Massey Home Recently, constituent Kristen Massey and her classmates were in Guatemala as a part of their school's medical program. Kristen contacted my office for assistance with returning to the United States after airline flights were stopped because of the COVID-19 crisis. Our team worked with the Department of State Repatriation Taskforce to get Kristen and her classmates home and we were pleased to receive the photo above after they returned from Guatemala.
Interview with Mike HuckabeeRecently, I joined former Governor Mike Huckabee and discussed the Coronavirus, specifically as it affects our district. In 2018, Hurricane Michael destroyed our homes and businesses and the recovery process continues to this day. We are now seeing more strain on our families and businesses with the spread of COVID-19. Our district has seen its share of hardship, but time and again we show our strength and resiliency. Click on the photo above to watch my full interview and click here to see what your neighbors and fellow Floridians are doing to serve their community during this time. Avoid Scam Calls Related to COVID-19 The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently issued a press release indicating that there is an increase in scam calls and emails to taxpayers related to COVID-19. These scams could come in the form of requesting charitable donations or asking for personal information to expedite receiving your economic impact payments. Be vigilant when receiving phone calls or emails to this effect. Click here to view the official press release and learn more information on avoiding and reporting scam calls.

IN THE NEWS
Constituent Casework CornerIn response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a local company transitioned to making hand sanitizer and already had several hundred commitments to various government agencies and private companies when they realized they needed an Industrial Alcohol User Permit from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TBB) to supply the hand sanitizer. After submitting an emergency application, the company contacted my office and we were able to work with TBB to have the application processed and the permit issued within 24 hours.
