Dear Fellow Nevadan,
When news broke earlier this month
that the Obama Administration used an unmarked cargo plane to transfer
pallets loaded with $400 million worth of foreign currencies to Iran on
the same day that four American hostages were released by the regime,
the American people saw the transaction for what it was: a ransom
payment.
No amount of semantic gymnastics can
change the fact that our government, irrespective of strong protests
from senior officials at the Department of Justice, made a
cash-for-prisoners exchange with the world’s largest state sponsor of
terrorism.
We’ve learned this week, contrary to
official statements, that the Administration intentionally timed the
money exchange to coincide with the release of our fellow citizens from
unlawful imprisonment. This is the textbook definition of paying ransom.
As details continue to unfold, what is clear is that the Administration
has chosen to double down on its capitulation to Iran a year after its
disastrous nuclear deal with the regime.
After voting to further sanction Iran
and to prevent the nuclear deal from being implemented, I will continue
to work with my colleagues to hold the Administration accountable and
prevent Iran from threatening the United States or our ally Israel.
Should I have the opportunity to vote on legislation concerning this
transaction with Iran, I will be sure to keep you informed.
Serving you,

Aerospace Day in District Four |
This past weekend, I hosted Aerospace
Day at Bridger Middle School and brought together NASA, the Air Force
Association, Arcata, Lockheed Martin and other aerospace innovators to
show our students what opportunities are available to them through STEM
education.
I also announced the 2016 Congressional App Challenge open to students living in Nevada’s Fourth District. Click here for details on how to enter.

Celebrating the Queen of Thailand |
I had a wonderful time celebrating the
Queen of Thailand’s birthday this week. Thank you to the Thai American
Association of Las Vegas for allowing me to be a part of this incredible
event where I got to experience Thailand’s beautiful culture
first-hand.

Working Together to Serve Our Community |
Helping to meet the needs of our
community is one of my top priorities. I was glad to spend time with
Wendell Williams, a former Nevada Assemblyman and the President of the
Martin Luther King Jr. Committee to discuss ways we could work together
to better serve our families and our great state.
