The 36-year-old daughter of the Democratic nominee has used the fake nickname on several occasions before — including when she checks into hotels — but it resurfaced this week after Judicial Watch released a fresh batch of Hillary Clinton’s emails.
In one email, Chelsea criticized the look of the new State Department website.
“Seriously you need someone else editing the pictures they put of you on the homepage scroll — some are fantastic, and some are weird!” Chelsea, under the name Diane, wrote.

Despite the code name, Hillary responded by calling her “Chels.”

Perhaps the most notorious exchange between the two is from the night of the September 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, that left Chris Stevens and Sean Smith dead.
“Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an Al Queda-like group: The Ambassador, whom I handpicked and a young communications officer on temporary duty w a wife and two young children,” Hillary wrote to “Diane.” “Very hard day and I fear more of the same tomorrow.”
