Dear Conservatives,
Lindsey Graham is a very busy man.
Not only is he a chief cheerleader for warrantless wiretapping
and indefinite detention, but he also is working to:
*** Undermine your Second
Amendment rights;
*** Limit your free speech through so-called “campaign
finance reform”;
*** Force you to carry a National ID card containing
sensitive biometric information;
*** Protect crony capitalism and corporate
welfare programs like the Export-Import Bank.
You might think that spearheading all these
assaults on individual liberty and constitutional government would be enough for Lindsey Graham…
But you would be wrong!
Lindsey Graham intends to reintroduce legislation that will expand
the surveillance state, violate the Tenth Amendment, and represents the worst form of crony capitalism.
The bill is called the “Restoration of America’s Wire Act,” which gives the federal government new powers to spy on and
control more of the Internet in order to stop individuals from gambling online instead of going to brick and mortar casinos.
It really ought to be known as the iGaming Ban,
as its real intent is to outright prohibit certain types of Internet
gambling a single billionaire casino mogul is not invested in.
Lindsey Graham was the lead Senate
sponsor of the bill in the 113th Congress and has publicly pledged to reintroduce the bill this year.
But since he hasn’t yet, please call Senator Lindsey Graham at (202)224-5972 and tell him to reverse course and not reintroduce the
so-called “Restoration of America’s Wire Act.”
The iGaming Ban tramples on
states’ powers reserved to them under the Tenth Amendment to legalize Internet gambling.
Currently, three states allow Internet gambling, and numerous other states are considering it.
If
Lindsey Graham has his way, Congress will not just nationalize the issue
of Internet gambling, it will set a precedent for federal nullification
of
other state laws protecting our liberties from Congress and the federal
bureaucracy.
Senator
Graham’s scheme to make it a federal crime to gamble online will also expand the surveillance state’s reach over the Internet.
Of course, Lindsey Graham claims you have nothing to worry about if you don’t gamble.
But how else will the government completely enforce iGaming Ban unless they spy on everyone’s Internet
activities?
Consider everything we have learned in recent years about the extent of government
surveillance...
How can any American who values their privacy believe politicians and bureaucrats
who say they can be trusted with new powers to “police” the Internet?
So even if you
do not gamble, the iGaming Ban threatens your liberties too.
Additionally, this legislation is
not just an assault on our liberties; it is an example of crony capitalism at its worst.
Lindsey
Graham says he want to stop people from gambling for moral reasons and to protect American family’s finances.
But what he is actually doing is stopping one type of
gambling in order to benefit a billionaire casino mogul who does not
want to
compete with other casinos invested in iGaming.
If Lindsey Graham is so concerned about the moral
and financial implications of iGaming, why is he so eager to help someone who made his fortune in casino gambling?
Please call Lindsey Graham at (202)224-5972 and tell him to reverse course and not reintroduce the so-called “Restoration of
America’s Wire Act.”
Tell him to stop trying to give the government new powers to
spy on your Internet usage!
Tell him to stop trampling on the Tenth Amendment, which reserves
power over issues like gambling to the individual states.
Make sure he knows you want them to
stop trying to set another precedent for federal interference in our personal lives!
A precedent
that will no doubt be used to justify future infringements on our liberty.
And emphasize that you
don’t support this type of crony capitalism.
If the statists pass the iGaming Ban, it will
send a signal to the surveillance state supporters and crony capitalists that it is open season on your liberties.
So please call Lindsey Graham at (202)224-5972 and urge him to stop supporting the so-called “Restoration of America’s
Wire Act.”
Tell Lindsey Graham to stop gambling with your liberties.
And if you can, please chip in $10 or
even $20 to help Campaign for Liberty stop this attack on Internet
Freedom and
your privacy.
In Liberty,
Norm Singleton
Senior Vice President
P.S. Lindsey Graham has publicly pledged to reintroduce the
so-called “Restoration of America’s Wire Act,” or the iGaming
Ban, as it ought to be called. This legislation gives the federal
government new power to spy on your Internet usage and tramples on the
Tenth
Amendment.
So please call Senator Graham at (202)224-5972 and tell him to reverse course and
oppose the “Restoration of America’s Wire Act.”
And if you can, please chip in $10 or even $20 to help
Campaign for Liberty stop this attack on Internet Freedom and your privacy.
