Pots, Kettles, and the Corrupting Nature of Washington
Hypocrisy is defined as “the behavior of people who do things that they tell other people not to do.” And Steve LaTourette’s article in Politico Magazine was full of it.

In 2003, multiple newspapers reported that Steve LaTourette had left his wife for his then-chief of staff, Jennifer Laptook. Jennifer proceeded to leave Congress and register to lobby, where she, according to Salon, “acquired some major Cleveland-area clients for her lobbying business almost the instant she left the representative’s staff” and touted her relationship to Congressman LaTourette on her lobbying firm’s website.

After leaving congress bemoaning the lack of Congress’s ability to govern, Congressman LaTourette and his now wife, Jennifer LaTourette, started, from scratch, the lobbying practice at the McDonald’s Hopkins law firm. In 2013, the firm pulled in $1.1 million (I’m in the wrong business) in lobbying fees. This, despite the fact that Congressman LaTourette was banned from lobbying Congress for most of 2013. LaTourette’s lucrative lobbying practice is set to exceed $1 million again in 2014. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Grift Versus Theft
Let’s assume that Steve LaTourette has a point. Let’s ignore the fact that LaTourette and his ilk, who fatten themselves daily at the lobbyist corporate cronyism trough, make salaries that dwarf those of Matt Kibbe, Chris Chocola, and Jenny Beth Martin. Let’s ignore that an allegedly “infamous craft beer bar” would not count among the top 100 amenities of the posh DC lobbying offices favored by LaTourette and the Republicans he prefers. Let’s say that what LaTourette points to is evidence of genuine excess on the part of some conservative groups who ought to be better stewards of donor money. Heck, that might even be a valid point with respect to some or many of these groups. What then? . . . please click here for the rest of the post

House Democrats Claim “Momentum” For 2014
The eerie similarities between the Republican disaster in 2006 and the coming Democrat disaster in 2014 continue to mount. The latest is a fairly desperate memo from DCCC chair Steve Israel which purports to show that Democrats have “momentum” heading into the 2014 elections based on some evidence that could most charitably be characterized as “flimsy”  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

In search of a GOP foreign policy
As the 2016 campaign shapes up one of the most contentious intra-party issues is national security but it is hardly likely to get a serious consideration.

The current national security policy of the United States is broken and a serious debate is needed on what is to replace it.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Inside “Gamechanger Salon,” The Left’s Action Network
An extensive membership list and a calendar of events offer insight into a leftwing network first revealed by Media Trackers last week. Gamechanger Salon is a members-only Google group run by Billy Wimsatt for forward thinking and top-level political activists on the Left. Members of the group include senior level political hands at NARAL, the SEIU, the AFL-CIO and Planned Parenthood, among dozens of other groups.

Media Trackers first uncovered the network in records obtained through an open records request filed with a University of Wisconsin professor. The membership list released today is far more detailed than the list released last week, and the calendar offers insight into the group’s plans for coordinated action in the future. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Kansas Senate Race: Positive Conservative Solutions vs. 47 years in Washington and More of the Same
Washington has lost its way — we all know it — and we will not change Washington until we change who we send to Washington. Today Kansans have an opportunity to do just that. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

EPA goes from Environmental Protection Agency to Extremist Political Agenda
During the week of July 28, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held hearings in four cities: Atlanta, Denver, Pittsburgh, and Washington. DC. The two-day sessions were to allow the public to have their voice heard about the proposed rules it released on June 2 that will supposedly cut CO2 emissions by 30 percent. Many, including myself, believe that these rules are really an attempt to shut down coal-fueled electricity generation and implement a cap-and-trade program that the Administration couldn’t get through Congress in 2009, when cap-and-trade’s obvious allies held both houses of Congress.

If the EPA’s plans were clear, direct, and honest, the public would likely revolt outright. Instead, the intent is hidden in pages of cumbersome language and the messaging becomes all about clean air and water—and about the health of children. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

The Vine
How do you know you are winning the war? When the other side has to change the words they use because their current brand has been exposed. As I recently discovered at Netroots Nation, pro-aborts are putting out the word that they are done with the term “pro-choice.” The public has been educated and understands that “pro-choice” is synonymous with abortion; and now the truth is spreading as to what an abortion actually entails. All this new light on the abortion industry is bad news for abortion mills like Planned Parenthood so, as Kristan Hawkins explains at LifeNews, they now prefer the term “women’s health.” . . . please click here for the rest of the post
