Leader Cantor: House Acts To Ensure Veterans Can Immediately Access Care
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader
Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement applauding
unanimous passage of the Veterans Access to Care Act:
“The tragedy at the VA continues to unfold and thousands of
veterans have not received the care they need. There can be no doubt
that the problems at the VA are systemic and widespread. The House will
investigate and hold failing bureaucrats accountable while giving our
veterans the ability to seek private care when the VA is failing them.
“Today, the House acted to give veterans a choice so they
can immediately access health care providers through the private sector
to avoid lengthy waitlists and long commutes. The Veterans Access to
Care Act upholds a promise to our veterans that has been woefully broken
under the Obama Administration, the promise that our country will be
there for our heroes when they return home from the battlefields. I
thank Chairman Jeff Miller and the Committee on Veterans Affairs for
their swift attention to this matter, and urge the Senate to join us in
passing this bill to ensure our veterans get the care they need when
they need it.”
