Atheist Group Sues to Force Removal of Veterans' Peace Cross

Fred Edwords remembers the first time he saw the giant cross rising over this small town in Prince George's County. The Peace Cross, as it's known locally, commemorates the county's World War I dead. A plaque at the base of the 40-foot structure lists 39 names, and includes a quote from President Woodrow Wilson. There's no figure of Jesus, or religious imagery or text of any kind.

The Dangers of Mental Illness

Elliot Rodger was receiving treatment for mental illness, according to what is known now about the 22-year-old man who massacred six students in Isla Vista and apparently killed himself on Friday. Clearly, whatever care he received was not sufficient. It's a story that is all too common. Untreated and undertreated mental illness has led to far too many deaths.
