Our hearts pump at a rate of 70-75 beats per minute. Though weighing only 11 ounces on average, a healthy heart pumps 2,000 gallons of blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels each day. Every day, the heart creates enough energy to drive a truck 20 miles. In a lifetime, that is equivalent to driving to the moon and back. A healthy heart can do amazing things. Conversely, if our heart malfunctions, our whole body shuts down.

The same could be said of our “spiritual heart.” In Scripture, the word heart represents the center of our emotions, thinking, and reasoning. It is the “command center” of our life.


So when we read, “Keep your heart with all diligence” (Prov. 4:23), it makes a lot of sense. But it’s difficult advice to keep. Life will always make demands upon our time and energy that cry out for immediate attention. By comparison, taking time to hear God’s Word and to do what it says may not shout quite so loudly. We may not notice the consequences of neglect right away, but over time it may give way to a spiritual heart attack.

The book of Proverbs had several contributing authors, but most of the wisdom found here was written by King Solomon. In the opening nine chapters, Solomon specifically instructs his son (and sometimes his sons) regarding the wisdom that would help him engage life in a meaningful way. Some of the themes of these chapters include the value of wisdom, the necessity of faith, the peril of deceitful women, and the danger of foolishness. Beginning in chapter 10, the book becomes a collection of general wise sayings.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

To Olive Branch Report Readers, and Beyond:

My past couple of weeks have been filled with matters surrounding the Bundy Ranch event and similar “flash-points” in Arizona and other Western States.  Consultations with elected officials, reading reports and dozens of emails containing documents and insights from subject-matter experts regarding private property rights, State sovereignty pursuant to the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution including sovereignty of citizens, and matters associated with western states admission to the Nation upon Statehood.  Add a couple of presentations and radio interviews, and you would think I am a candidate for something!  Well…I’m not!  But I am most humbled to have the privilege of speaking to gatherings and sharing my thoughts on current events, as well as meeting and conferring with various elected officials who realize if collectively we do not push back against a runaway federal government whose agenda is far from representing WE THE PEOPLE, we may not be able to in the near future.  While a lot of the message associated with Bunkerville and the stand-off by and between the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and citizens has been deliberately clouded, one lasting message sent that cannot be erased, no matter how much the establishment agencies and media try, is that average citizens from across the country came to a desert ranch and stood with a fellow citizen against a terribly over-bearing, aggressive, mean-spirited federal agency intent on physically doing harm to get its’ way.  This behavior by a federal department of the U.S. Government is not how we historically have taken care of business in America.  There have been moments opposing that which I just wrote, but those episodes did not turn out well for the government; only adding evidence to the pervasive debate spread across this country that the central government housed in Washington, D.C. has morphed into what our Founders feared and forewarned us about.

There is an oppressive wind blowing across our country, and I believe it to be a part of the Spiritual Warfare that already has begun to settle in over our skies and land.  While responses from citizens like at Bunkerville will take some pressure off the moment not until the people across our land begin to pray to the Lord God Almighty, the One God, comprised of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and seek repentance for our transgressions (individually and collectively) will we witness any relief from the stifling pressure yet to come.  We must go before the Lord of all Creation and submit to His will and call on our life; to go before the Throne of God and choose to place our trust in Him…not man.  We must choose to follow HIM !

Every now and then someone sends something over the internet and tells you…”you must watch this!”  This is one of those times. 
Through the ability created by The Olive Branch Report, I am passing along a most enjoyable moment.  May your heart be lifted from
the worries of this world (which is passing away), and may you be filled with joy and excitement that the Lord of Lords and King of Kings
chose you to participate in this season of unrest, this time of change.  May you take a moment and allow your worries and cares to be
given to Him who sits on the Throne, and who allows nothing to happen that is not brought before His attention.   May you take a
moment, slow down your thinking and planning, and just be…be silent and hopeful for the Joy of the Lord is present!
