TRICARE for Life (TFL) Pharmacy Pilot Starts March 15
Beginning tomorrow, March 15,
TRICARE beneficiaries who are Medicare eligible (using TRICARE for Life
(TFL)) must refill select maintenance drugs using either TRICARE
Pharmacy Home Delivery or a military pharmacy.
TFL
beneficiaries living in the U.S. will be provided up to two courtesy
fills of select maintenance medications before switching to home
deliveries. After that, if TFL beneficiaries don’t use either Home
Delivery or a military pharmacy, they will be
responsible for 100 percent of the cost of their medications.
The
Pharmacy Pilot is required under the 2013 National Defense
Authorization Act and initiated to avert steeply higher TRICARE fees
pursued by the Administration in last year’s budget request.
Beneficiaries may opt out of the program after one year of receiving
their medications through Home Delivery.
For general information about the pilot, including waivers call Express Scripts (ESI) at 1-877-363-1303.
More Info on TRICARE Proposals
Last week we reported on DoD budget proposals to combine all TRICARE plans into one.
This
week we have some new charts that hopefully make the proposals easier
to understand. However, NAUS still opposes these changes and will
continue to fight to ensure they are not adopted.
