1. CNN reports Obama admin failed to ensure contractors could test Healthcare.gov
CNN has released a report that the main
Healthcare.gov contractor CGI warned the Obama administration one month
in advance that there were critical problems preventing them from
ensuring a clean launch of the website. In particular, the
administration was warned that testing was being obstructed.
The
quote from the CGI memo leaves no doubt, if you understand the technical
jargon used in the memo. I’ll take it apart and explain just how bad
this situation really was.
Here’s the quote from the memo, which CNN says was listed as a ‘severe’ concern . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2. Big Government once again turns on its Little Partners
I’m going to use a loaded word in this post, so I want to get it out of the way right up front. That word is fascism.
We all
know it’s bad – just about the worst thing a government can become,
although I can think of a few million victims of communism who might
argue the point, if we could use a Ouija board to contact them. But it’s very difficult to define fascism with precision. It’s not the same thing as Nazism, although they are obviously related. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3. Solitary Confinement: A Punishment In Need Of Reform
At one
time, the answer seemed to be simple. If you take prisoners who present
an ongoing threat to other inmates and to prison staff and isolate them
then you have eliminated the problem. In 1983, the Federal Bureau of
Prisons opened the first “super max” prison at Marion, IL where
prisoners were kept in solitary confinement for nearly 23 hours per day.
Since then, according to the Washington Post, over 60 similar prisons
have been commissioned. The most famous being the Federal supermax at
Florence, CO (see the list of famous inmates here) and the California
supermax at Pelican’s Bay which is the destination of a substantial
number of California gang member.
But the
same forces that combined to make the death penalty a rare occurrence
now have set their sights on solitary confinement. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
4. Mitch McConnell in his Own Words
Watch
carefully with the understanding that this is the most powerful,
well-connected Republican in Washington, and you will see why we are
losing. Enough said. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
5. The three interlocking gears of the #Obamacare #FAIL.
Originally,
I was going to use the step-stool analogy, only the problem here is
that in order for Obamacare to work all three problems need to be
resolved. At the moment the administration is more or less working on
one full time, and desultorily working on another. The third has yet to
be addressed. So… consider a set of gears, with three obstructions. All
three obstructions must be cleared before the machine can operate.
If it can operate. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
